RAMALLAH, (PIC)-- The security apparatuses loyal to the Ramallah authority summoned more than 1,500 Hamas supporters and cadres and kidnapped 135 of them in the past month of February, Hamas said in a press release in the West Bank on Tuesday.

The movement added that the illegal Ramallah courts passed prison sentences against 17 of those kidnapped.

It noted that the Fatah-controlled authority continued to target West Bank universities, kidnapping two university professors and 24 students in February other than tens of daily summonses.

Hamas pointed out that the arrests targeted various other sectors in the society including 9 teachers, 8 members or chairs of local councils, 5 engineers, a journalist, a doctor, a pharmacist, and a lawyer.

The movement underlined that the torture rounds by those apparatus continued in February, citing the fact that five detainees were rushed to hospitals in that month.

GAZA, (PIC)-- The Gaza prisoner affairs ministry has released a report on Tuesday revealing that Israel had carried out 550 raid operations on Palestinian areas arresting 285 Palestinians in February, including 34 children.

The report also details and documents Israeli abuses of Palestinian detainees that month.

The youngest of the 34 arrested children was a 10-year-old boy from Beit Ummar in northern Al-Khalil who was suspected of throwing stones at Jewish settlers, the report says.

Another minor was sentenced to ”open-house prison” and charged 6,000 shekels in fines at a hearing at the Israeli magistrate's court.

The arrests include two Palestinian women and a man who was arrested after receiving permission to escort his sister to seek treatment in 1948-occupied territory, as well as the leader of the Islamic Movement northern branch in '48-occupied territory Sheikh Raed Salah.

The same month, Israeli courts extended prison sentences on more than 140 detainees, and sentenced Palestinian Legislative Council members Mohammed Jamal al-Natshe and Omar Abdul-Razzaq to six months in administrative detention.

A Palestinian woman was attacked in the second consecutive incident by a soldier working at the courthouse during a hearing. The soldier insulted her in front of prosecutors and judges and put a cigarette out on her hand while handcuffing her.
