GAZA, (PIC)-- The Palestinian government of Ismail Haneyya held the Israeli occupation authority (IOA) responsible for the life of detained Hamas leader Abbas Assayed who has been on hunger strike for 20 days.
It said in a statement on Monday that Assayed was held in solitary confinement since 2002 and was carried to hospital after his health deteriorated due to the strike.
It called on Palestinian and international human rights groups to intervene for the sake of Assayed and to expose the IOA crimes against him in violation of international standards.
The government said it was also following up the hunger strike declared on Monday by hundreds of Palestinian prisoners in four Israeli jails to protest their incarceration conditions, and demanded the release of all Palestinian prisoners.
