GAZA, (PIC)-- Palestinian prisoners in the Israeli occupation jails decided to go on hunger strike on Monday in solidarity with PFLP and Hamas leaders Ahmed Saadat and Abbas Al-Sayyed.
Abdulnasser Farwana, a specialist in prisoners affairs, said in a press release that Palestinian prisoners in Nafha and Negev desert prisons would go on hunger strike for one day on Monday en masse.
He said that the prisoners told him in a message they were waging the strike to protest Saadat's continued isolation and in rejection of the policy of solitary confinement in general in addition to displaying solidarity with Sayyed who has been on hunger strike for 20 days and his health condition was reportedly deteriorating.
Farwana said that the prisoners said that their strike would be also in solidarity with prisoner Akram Mansour, who has been held in Israeli jails for 31 years, after he was carried to hospital due to worsening health condition and lack of proper treatment.
They said that consultations were made in this regard with prisoners in other prisons but they did not know whether other prisoners would join their hunger strike in view of the difficulty of communicating with them, the expert on prisoners affairs concluded.
