Bardawil: Abbas dealt evasively with Hamas's reconciliation initiative

GAZA, (PIC)-- De facto president Mahmoud Abbas dealt evasively with Hamas Movement's initiative for ending the internal division through giving partial ideas away from the essential points that have been unresolved for four years, senior Hamas official Salah Al-Bardawil said on Wednesday.

In a press statement to Palestine newspaper, Bardawil underlined that his Movement's initiative calls for engaging in comprehensive national dialog, forming a political authoritative body and holding a national conference addressing all Palestinian social and political issues.

Abbas shelved major and core issues, and only focused on forming a transitional government and holding legislative and presidential elections, the Hamas official said.

He added that the basic philosophy underlying Hamas's call for reconciliation is to create a comprehensive political partnership in everything starting with the Palestinian liberation organization (PLO) and ending with the formation of a government.

"The national priority entails the need for radical internal reforms and the restructuring of the PLO as an incubator for all Palestinian people after it unfortunately became representing a small group of people and national forces in the West Bank, Gaza and abroad," the official highlighted.
