Egypt gas pipeline supplying Israel detonated again

[ 27/04/2011 - 10:25 AM ]
CAIRO, (PIC)-- Unidentified persons exploded Wednesday morning an Egyptian pipeline near El-Arish supplying natural gas to Jordan and Israel.

Emergency services rushed to the blast site after the explosion while petroleum ministry officials tried to contain the leaking gas to help put out the fire after two hours of burning.

The flow of gas to Israel was reduced after Egyptian authorities shut down the main gas source supplying the pipeline. They are still trying to extinguish the fire.

The Egypt natural gas supply to Israel stopped briefly after the same line was similarly attacked on February 5.
Israel gets 40 percent of its natural gas needs from Egypt under a 1979 peace treaty signed by both countries.
