Four Palestinians killed in tunnel collapse

[ 13/04/2011 - 07:18 AM ]

RAFAH, (PIC)-- Four Palestinians were killed on Tuesday when a tunnel collapsed over their heads in Brazil suburb in Rafah, south of the Gaza Strip, the civil defense said.

The civil defense statement noted that two of the victims were twin brothers.

Medical sources earlier said that eight Palestinians working in the tunnel were wounded in the incident, four of them died.

Palestinians in Gaza Strip are forced to dig tunnels between the coastal enclave and the Egyptian Sinai Peninsula in order to secure their needs of foodstuff and other supplies such as construction material and fuel, which are scarce due to the tight Israeli siege impsoed on the Strip for the past five years.
