RAFAH, (PIC)-- Ayub Abu Shaar, the director of the Rafah border terminal, has announced that work at the crossing was suspended by the Palestinian side on Sunday. He told the website of the interior ministry in Gaza that his administration was waiting for results of the consultations between the Palestinian foreign ministry and the Egyptian government. He said that work was suspended due to the Egyptian step of slowing down work over the past few days then closure of the crossing on Saturday. Abu Shaar said that the Egyptian and Palestinian sides were on the verge of solving administrative and technical problems that obstructed work at the crossing. An announcement on restarting work at the crossing would be declared as soon as those problems are solved, he concluded. The Egyptian authorities closed the crossing on Saturday without prior notice for renovation and maintenance purposes. |
