PFLP holds Abbas responsible for impeding reconciliation

[ 27/06/2011 - 08:22 AM ]
GAZA, (PIC)-- The popular front for the liberation of Palestine (PFLP) has held the PA chief, Mahmoud Abbas, responsible for impeding the reconciliation agreement by insisting on Salam Fayyad as premier of the transitory government.

Rabah Mihana, a PFLP politburo member, said in a statement on Sunday evening that Abbas bowed to foreign pressures and insisted on Fayyad even against the wishes of his own Fatah faction.
He added that the absence of a strategy unifying Palestinians after a comprehensive revision of past experiences since Madrid and Oslo was another factor impeding reconciliation.
Mihana said that Hamas and Fatah’s insistence on going to bilateral talks while leaving out the other factions served as another impediment before reconciliation.
The PFLP official advocated comprehensive dialog and political revision to agree on a unified strategy while not bowing to foreign pressures as urgent national necessities along the road to freedom and independence.
