In the memory of kidnapping the four Iranian diplomats in Lebanon year 1982, the Iranian embassy in Lebanon organized a solidarity meeting in the journalists union.![]() The Iranian ambassador assured that the Islamic Republic of Iran has been following up this case with all concerned sides, considering that “the kidnapping was a great crime that violated all diplomatic norms, particularly the Vienna Convention that gave immunity, full protection, and facilities to the diplomats for completing their tasks and duties." “It is a crime against the international community as it violated all international charters and conventions, and was a flagrant violation of human rights,” he added, pointing out “we have not sensed any serious action by the international community and human rights organizations over this issue.” In parallel, Journalist union president called on the judicial and procedural authorities as well as the Lebanese government to make strong efforts to uncover the diplomats’ destiny. For her part, wife of kidnapped diplomat Mohsen Mousavi, revealed that she had received information that confirmed that the diplomats were in the occupied territories. On the other hand, the Lebanese Foreign Minister pledged that “we will spare no effort in following up the investigations and communications at all levels, and we are full of hope that God will help us attain positive results.” Four Iranian diplomats Ahmad Motevaselian, Mohsen Mousavi, Taghi Rastegar Moghadam, and Kazem Akhavan were kidnapped in Lebanon year 1982 during the Israeli war. The Lebanese forces were accused of kidnapping them and handing them over to the Israeli occupation. |
