GAZA, (PIC)-- Hamas spokesman Sami Abu Zuhri has called on the Palestinian Authority’s security services to lift the ban on armed resistance in the West Bank in response to a wave of attacks against Palestinians by Israeli settlers and soldiers.
“Hamas emphasizes the seriousness of the escalation in which settlers and the [Israel] occupation army has engaged in the occupied West Bank, the latest example being the torching of Al-Nourein mosque in Qasra village south of Nablus, as well as the destruction of thousands of fruit trees southeast of Bethlehem and in Al-Walaja village northwest of the city,” Abu Zuhri said.
“These crimes against Allah’s houses and the property of citizens reaffirm the racism of [the Israeli occupier] and its settlers, and its criminal nature, and they call for making every effort to address these crimes,” he added.
Abu Zuhri went on to speak about peace talks with Israel, saying that Hamas “considers any talks about negotiations in light of such crimes provides a cover for [the Israeli occupier] to continue to do them”. He called on the security forces in the West Bank to stop engaging in security coordination with Israel and to lift the ban on armed resistance in order to defend the land and holy sites.
