The former US ambassador to United Nations and Iranophobic Zionist Jew, John Bolton, believes that Barack Obama has failed to blackmail the double agent, PA President Mahmoud Abbas – who refuses to backup on his plan to plead to United Nations on September 23, for recognition of an independent Palestinian State side-by-side with the Zioist entity based on the pre-1967 borders.
“We threatened to cut off funding to any UN organization that enhanced the status of the PLO. Worked like a charm. It stopped the PLO dead in its tracks. That was the end of the effort for 20 years, and if the administration were to do the same thing here I think it would have the same effect,” said Bolton.
Barack Obama has already threatened that even if the Palestinian state is endorced by the two-third majority of UN General Assembly, US will veto it in the Security Council. However, as a rule, it’s the General Assembly which admits new members while the Security Council recommends it. That’s what happened when the Libyan rebels got the UN seat a few days ago.
Both Hamas leadrs and Tehran are not in favor of a land-locked Palestinian state on 20% of pre-1948 Palestine. Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi on Sunday said his country rejects the separation of Palestine and calls for a free referendum for the Palestinian people to determine their own fate.
“The issue of recognizing Palestine as an independent state could be on the schedule of the next UN General Assembly meeting, but Palestine cannot be left to split into two parts as many believe,” Salehi added. “Our official position is that Palestine is the property of all Palestinians and we will not, under any circumstances, agree to its division,” said Salehi.
“On September 23, when the moment of truth arrives, he (Abbas) will take the low road, not the high, effectively capitulating to Washington and Israel,” wrote Steve Lendman on September 17, 2011.
Stephen Lendman: "Abbas and Fayyad never did represent Palestinians and don't now."
