Rafiq Nasrallah to Al-Manar Website: Jumblatt Preparing for New Coup…

Rafiq Nasrallah to Al-Manar Website:

  • Jumblatt Preparing for New Coup…
  • Financing Tribunal Would Be another Idiocy
  • Jumblatt Changes Just Like Seasons!
  • Syria Overcame Crisis, Triumphed Sedition
  • Conspiracy Seeks Head of Resistance…
  • Our Culture of Ruling is Same as Saad Hariri's!
  • Jumblatt Cannot Be Strategic Ally for Anybody
International Center for Strategic Studies Director Rafiq Nasrallah said that the head of the National Struggle Front MP Walid Jumblatt is preparing for “something” within two weeks, and explained that the head of the Progressive Socialist Party was wrongly expecting that something would happen and is therefore re-positioning himself according to this belief. He stressed that someone like Jumblatt cannot be a strategic ally for any political party, given that he changes just like seasons do.
In an exclusive interview with Al-Manar Website, Nasrallah admitted he was dissatisfied with Prime Minister Najib Miqati’s government’s performance. He recalled that this government saw light to put things on the right way but did nothing. He stressed the necessity not to commit a new idiocy to be added to the series of stupidities.

Nasrallah warned against committing the “idiocy” of financing the international tribunal, and cautioned that such a move would be nothing but a trap against the Resistance itself. He stressed the necessity to face this status-quo, and regretted that our culture in ruling was still the culture of former Prime Minister Saad Hariri, despite everything.

While confirming that Syria has overcome its crisis since the end of its first three weeks, he praised what he called the “courage” of Maronite Patriarch Beshara Rahi for raising unprecedented balances in the history of the Christian Church.

PATRIARCH RAHI’S COURAGE

International Center for Strategic Studies Director Rafiq Nasrallah told Al-Manar Website that it was not strange for the Lebanese politicians to do what they did in the face of Rahi’s courage to provide a deep analysis of the current status-quo at local, regional and international levels. He said that the patriarch has raised unprecedented balances in the history of the church, paving therefore the way for a new way of dealing with the developments and a real dialogue with all political factions, following “tense” circumstances that previously prevailed between the church’s head and many political sides.

Nasrallah expressed belief that the positions made by Patriarch Rahi in Paris were not only the result of internal discussions but also reflect a clear policy adopted by the Vatican and international Christian references. He said there were serious fears over the fate of Christians in the region, in light of the experience in Iraq and Egypt, as well as the threats faced by Christians in Syria, without neglecting the dangerous reality stating that only 11 thousand Christians remain in Palestine. “Thus, the Vatican is seeking to protect the Christian presence in the East,” he said.

THAT’S WHY THEY ASSAILED RAHI!
Nasrallah did not find strange that the Lebanese Forces, which classified themselves as allies and friends to the Maronite church under former Patriarch Nasrllah Sfeir, turned to assail the patriarch just because the latter expressed a realistic view stating that the Resistance’s weapons were justified as the international community continues to legalize the Zionist occupation.

Answering a question about claims that fear-inciting remarks on Salafi sides reaching powers were nothing but a ‘scarecrow’, Nasrallah admitted they were a scarecrow by its reality since that the rise of Salafist movements threatens the whole variety in the region, not only the Christian presence. “Yes, it is a scarecrow. We’re scared from such a sectarian rhetoric. All minorities are scared. The honorable majority is also scared of such claims.”

SYRIA OVERCAME CRISIS

The International Center for Strategic Studies Director said that Syria has overcome its crisis since a long time. He noted that the conspiracy against Syria was scheduled to reach its goals in only three weeks and to enter Syria in a civil war that would lead to the division of Syria. He emphasized that when Syria exceeded the first five weeks of the crisis, it overcame the crisis and triumphed over the strategic goal of the crisis, i.e. the sedition plot. He concluded that the danger became of the past.

JUMBLATT CHANGES JUST LIKE SEASONS

Commenting the recent stances made by the head of the National Struggle Front MP Walid Jumblatt who criticized Maronite Patriarch Beshara Rahi and denied what was taking place in Syria was a conspiracy, Nasrallah said that, personally, he never encouraged the alliance with Jumblatt, in light of the positions the man has taken following the assassination of former Prime Minister Rafiq Hariri and his enmity towards Syria. “I did not encourage alliance with him. Yet, some politicians thought that he has learnt the lesson, and therefore were allied with him for technical or political reasons,” he said.

Nasrallah stressed that, personally, he believes that Jumblatt cannot be a strategic ally for any political side, whether the March 8 or the March 14 alliance. He said it was not possible to enter in any deal with this man who changes just like seasons do.

Answering a question, Nasrallah expressed belief that Jumblatt was preparing for “something” within two weeks. He hinted that his editorial in the PSP-affiliated Al-Anbaa magazine was an introduction to his new coup. He said that Jumblatt was wrongly expecting that something would happen and is therefore re-positioning himself according to this belief.

WILL WE ADD ANOTHER IDIOCY TO OUR RECORDS?

Asked about the upcoming challenge of financing the international tribunal in light of the expected scenarios, Nasrallah rejected the claims of possibly approving the Special Tribunal for Lebanon’s funds, even in an indirect manner. “In my opinion, if the Resistance bloc accepts to finance the STL, whether directly or indirectly, we would be committing a huge idiocy that would be added to the many stupidities that we have committed and caused the current status-quo,” he said. “We must not commit such idiocy. In the contrary, we must enter the battle until the end.”

He recalled that the government of Prime Minister Najib Miqati came to correct the tribunal’s process and to open the file of false witnesses and change the security apparatus responsible of the previous stage. “Instead, we have to listen to the premier’s advices to Hezbollah to appoint lawyers to defend it!” he said.

Whether this means that he was not satisfied with the government’s performance, Nasrallah said: “Of course, I’m not. I can’t be satisfied with the government’s performance as long as corruption continues and as long as the security leaderships remain in their positions. Unfortunately, our culture in ruling is still the same as Saad Hariri.”
