Armed Terrorist Group Assassinates University Professor and Son of Grand Mufti of the Republic

IDLEB, (SANA) – An armed terrorist group on Sunday assassinated Professor of History at Aleppo University Dr. Mohammad al-Omar while he was on his way to the university, accompanied by Saria Hassoun, of Grand Mufti of the Republic Ahmad Badreddin Hassoun, who was injured in the attack and succumbed to his injuries after being admitted to Idleb National Hospital.
A source at Idelb Police Command said that gunmen set up an ambush for Dr. al-Omar's car near Ebla University on Idleb-Aleppo highway and opened fire at it which resulted in the martyrdom of Dr. al-Omar and the injury of the son of the Grand Mufti.
Dr. Mohammad Deeb al-Haj, thoracic surgery specialist at Idleb National Hospital, said that martyr Hassoun sustained a gunshot to the back, causing him to die due to extensive bleeding.
Chairman of the National Union of Syrian Students branch in Ebla University Bassel al-Youssef said that Dr. al-Omar and Hassoun were an example of fine morals and modesty, and that their martyrdom is a medal of honor as they joined the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for their country.
Martyr Saria Hassoun was born in 1989. He was a second year student at Ebla University.

Gunmen Kill 4 Citizens in al-Qadam Neighborhood in Damascus

GOVERNORATES, (SANA)- Members of an armed terrorist group killed on Saturday four citizens in al-Qadam neighborhood in the capital Damascus in an attempt to terrorize the inhabitants.


Police sources said the gunmen opened fire randomly, immediately killing Amin al-Masri, Abdul-Wahab al-Masri, Abdul-Muneim Ramadan and Hannoush al-Khudr and injuring a child who was near the place.
The sources added that the gunmen perpetrated their crime inside a popular neighborhood, took a side road and managed to flee away among the alleys and keep themselves out of sight, taking advantage of the inhabitants' panic and fear of firing.


The residents of the neighborhood said that the four citizens were waiting outside a warehouse to replace gas cylinders when fire was opened on them, thanking God for the absence of full gas cylinders outside which prevented a catastrophe.
Relatives of the martyrs refuted the allegations of al-Jazeera and al-Arabiya channels on the circumstances surrounding the death of the martyrs, stressing that the martyrs were killed at the hands of the armed terrorist groups.
Baheej al-Masri, brother of martyr Amin al-Masri, said "At 1:15 pm, three gunmen stepped out from a white Kia Rio car and started shooting at a gas distribution store killing my brother and the owner of the store in addition to Hannoush al-Khudr and a citizen from Daraa I don't know his name."
For his part, Abboud al-Khudr, brother of martyr Hannoush al-Khudr, said "My brother went to the gas store to replace his gas cylinder when an armed terrorist group opened fire, causing the death of my brother."


Security Forces Arrest Member of Terrorist Group in Homs, Seizing Explosives and Ammunition


Competent authorities arrested a member of the armed terrorist groups at Fairouza farms in Homs, seizing different kinds of weapons, explosives and ammunitions with him.
During the operation, security men confiscated 6 hand-made bombs, two Kalashnikov rifles, 3 pistols and big quantities of ammunitions.
On Thursday, the security members seized a car loaded with weapons at Tal al-Shour near Homs.


Engineering Units Dismantle Explosive Devices in Bukamal and al-Mayadin, Deir Ezzor


Engineering units on Saturday dismantled two explosive devices prepared to explode in the cities of al-Mayadin and Bukamal in Deir Ezzor province, northeastern Syria.


The first explosive device, which constituted a small travel gas cylinder filled with TNT and rigged to explode via remote control, was planted on the edge of a main road in the city of al-Mayadin.

The other explosive device was attached to the fuel tank of a motorcycle left by two masked persons, one of them was armed, in a crowded street in the city of the Buakamal city. The device was equipped with an electric detonator and also rigged to explode by remote control.

Five Law-Enforcement Members Martyred, Eight Wounded by Armed Terrorist Group in al-Ghab Area, Civilian Martyred and Freight Train Targeted in Idelb

HAMA,(SANA)- Five law-enforcement members were martyred and eight were wounded on Sunday after they were shot by an armed terrorist group in Kafar Nabboudeh Town in al-Ghab area and all of them were transferred to the national hospitals in Hama, al-Skelbieh and Masyaf.

An official source at al-Ghab area told SANA Correspondent that the law-enforcement members were performing their duty in preserving the security and protecting the civilians from the acts of intimidation practiced by the armed groups, when they were attacked by tens of gunmen who were driving stolen cars, and they opened fire on them as five were martyred and 8 were wounded.
The source added that the armed group used machine guns backed by snipers who were on the roofs of the neighboring buildings.
The source said that the armed groups also attacked a number of the governmental buildings in the aforementioned town, indicating that the competent authorities are hunting the criminals.

Armed Terrorist Groups Kill Citizen, Shoot his Brother, Rob SYP 5 Millions from a Bank
An armed terrorist group killed Citizen Ahmad Skaf, 54, from Bsames Village in al-Zawyah Mountain after he was kidnapped and tortured to death while his brother was shot in the foot.
An official source at the police leadership said that Skaf's body was found on Saturday in Wadi Arrouj Area, pointing out that his brother, 27, was attacked by a terrorist group while he was turning back home from his farm in Bedar Shamso Village.
The source added that Skaf's body was taken to Jisr al-Shugour National Hospital and marks of torture were found in different parts of his body.

"Skaf and his brother were frequently threatened by terrorists as they refused to respond to killing and sabotage calls" the source clarified.

An armed terrorist group targeted early Sunday morning a freight train in Oubin area in Idleb province, north Syria.
.
The driver and his assistant were injured as three cars were diverted off the railway.
Governor of Idleb Khaled al-Ahmad said an explosive device planted on the railway exploded around 6 am causing the driver's railcar to divert off the main track along with the following two railcars, injuring him and his assistant.
He noted that the driver and his assistant were immediately pulled out of the driving railcar and transmitted to the National Hospital of Jisr al-Shughour city.
The governor added that the initial information imports that the bombing planners had planned to target instead of the freight train a passenger train which was scheduled to pass at the time of the explosion, but there had been a change in the train schedules and the passenger train trip was put off for reasons related to the company.
Al-Ahmad pointed out that the targeted train was carrying pipes and a number of materials needed for different service uses.
Eng. George Mqa'bari, Director General of the General Establishment of Syrian Railways, told SANA that the train was targeted as it passed the area between the towns of Bdama and al-Younisiyeh where the railway was bombed.
He added "The damage is estimated at millions of Syrian pounds and the technical committee is working on assessing the precise value of the damage."
The Establishment will work on replacing and maintaining the damaged part, about 75 meters of the railway and mending it to be put in service as soon as possible and the Establishment will also fix the railcar, he pointed out.
He noted that the train was loaded with 26 cargo trucks that contain irrigation pipes.
A source from Mine Dismantling Engineering Unit said that two explosive devices, one to the right and the other to the left of the railway sides, were linked together by a wire and a remote control in order to carry out the terrorist crime yet as the wire broke, only one device exploded, which reduced the volume of the damage.
 
Also on the 23rd of July, armed terrorist groups targeted a passenger train in al-Sawda in Qazhil area in Homs province as it was heading from Aleppo to Damascus, carrying 500 persons.


Wanted Criminal Killed by his own Bomb He Decided to Plant in Daraa

A wanted criminal on Sunday morning was killed by his own bomb while he was carrying it on the motorbike to plant it for killing innocent people in Daraa.
Ahmad Khaled al-Oqab, from al-Jiza Village in Daraa, had already planted two bombs in the village until he was killed before planting the third.
A citizen from the village said that he heard a loud explosion at 01:00 am near his house, and he informed the competent authorities and went with a friend to the place of explosion where they found a man lying on the ground in a very bad situation and a motorbike close to him.
They again, told the competent authorities about that, adding that they would take the injured man to the hospital but he died on the way.
Director of Bosra Hospital, Mohammad al-Shahmeh, said that at 01:30 am a 35 years old man was taken to the emergency department. He pointed out that the man was suffering from severe injury and then he died.
Forensic Doctor, Myassar al-Wadi, said that after examining the body of the dead criminal, it was found that he had an almost complete amputation of the left leg and severe injury in genital area and the right thigh.
Rahal Calls for International Intervention, Supporting Armed Groups in Syria
Mohammad Rahal, head of the so-called Syrian coordination committees, said that "Salah Addin al-Ayoubi army" started a week ago its military operations.
Rahal's comments come to add up to the armed operations carried out by the opposition in some Syrian areas such as targeting public buses and cars, and targeting railways, the latest of which is targeting a transport train in Idleb province which led to injuring the driver and his assistant.
In a statement published by al-Sharq al-Awsat newspaper, Rahal called for supporting the armed terrorist groups and imposing a no-fly zone over the Syrian provinces.
