You are best to work for, I mean with Israel But you need a break |

The renowned Israeli journalist and human rights activist, Amira Hass is currently on a cross-Canada lecture tour (Sept. 27 through Oct. 11). Her tour is sponsored nationally by Canadian for Justice and Peace in the Middle East, and KAIROS: Canadian Ecumenical Justice Initiatives. The award-winning Amira Hass (born 1956) is the only Israeli Jewish journalist who has lived both in Gazzah and the West Bank.
Amira Hass never mince words when she exposes the Jewish occupation and how they profit from occupation: “That we all have privileges as Jews – any Jew could come any moment and become a citizen but not a Palestinian who was born here”.
On September 28, Amira spoke at UBC’s Webb Theatre.
“Israel is a democracy for Jews. I can write what I want without being arrested, or stopped at passport controls. I have freedom of movement, I have all the privileges of being a Jew in Israel,” she told the audience.
In her 45-minute lecture, she made it clear that these were privileges not enjoyed by Palestinians.
Amira believes Mahmoud Abbas’ bid for statehood is a result of growing despair among the pro-West sector of Palestinian society. However, she believes that the full United Nations membership will be vetoed by Washington even if it’s supported by nine or more members of the 15-member UN Security Council. The maximum Abbas will get, a vote on non-member ‘observer state’ by the two-third majority in the UN General Assembly.
The democratically elected Hamas government has refused to be part of Mahmoud Abbas’ bid and has called it a Scam.
Amira says that Palestinians believe that the isolation of Zionist regime in the region will force it to lift its occupation. She cited the expulsion of Israeli ambassador from Ankara – and the Israeli ambassadors in Cairo and Amman who fled to Israel for their personal safety. All those three countries have been allies of Israel for long times.
In June 2011, Amira Hass was interviewed CBC radio which can be heard here.
