DAMASCUS- In a statement issued on Sunday, the Central Council of the Popular Front for Change and Liberation called for taking measures to prevent the aggravation of the crisis in Syria, refereeing to the formation of a national unity government with a mission to mobilize the society's forces to defend the homeland against the conspirators.
The Council said that the imperialist-Zionist project aimed at calling for direct military intervention in Syria has stumbled because of the international changes and the Russian-Chinese stance in rejection of intervention in Syria, according to its statement.
The Council said that the imperialist-Zionist project aimed at calling for direct military intervention in Syria has stumbled because of the international changes and the Russian-Chinese stance in rejection of intervention in Syria, according to its statement.
The statement added that the imperialist project is now trying to realize what it could not accomplish from the outside through supporting the gunmen, its tools inside Syria.
The Council considered that the popular mobilization is the way to protect the homeland, calling on the national opposition forces to positively react to this proposal.
Dr. Qadri Jamil, a member of the Central Council of the Popular Front for Change and Liberation, in a press conference, called on the opposition and pro-government forces to find the necessary common denominators to get out of the crisis.
He demanded that the Arab League implement its initiative which is being hindered by the League itself.
Dr. Jamil denounced the statements of the head of Istanbul Council, Burhan Ghalioun, on cutting off ties with Hezbollah and Iran, stressing that Syria can only be governed by a national stance that reflects the Syrian people's stance and their role and history of struggle.
"The Syrians have made their choice to confront the current circumstances and won't give up their sovereignty and national unity," Dr. Jamil added.
For his part, Ali Haidar, a Council's member, said that Istanbul Council has gone beyond all national limits by demanding foreign intervention, reaching the limit of treason.
Another member of the Council, Adel N'eiseh, described the stances of Istanbul Council as "suspicious and anti-homeland", adding that the Front considers dealing with this Council as a red line as it was formed and funded to play a specific role it was asked to play and implement others' agenda.
