Russia Hopes Failure of Attempts to Thwart UN Mission in Syria

Local Editor

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated on Tuesday that his country hopes that all efforts of those seeking to thwart the UN observer mission in Syria will fail.

"I hope that those who are trying to disrupt the UN observer mission in Syria won't be able to carry out their plans", Lavrov asserted in a press conference at Dushanbe.

On this level, Russia's Foreign Minister confirmed that the observer mission represents a positive factor to solve the crisis. He further indicated that the number of the UN personnel should soon be increased to 300, to meet the latest UN Security Council (UNSC) resolution number 2043.

Moreover, Lavrov expressed regret at the media blackmail that depends on unreliable sources, and chooses to mislead facts of the events taking place in Syria.
