Sources familiar with the situation confirmed that the Syrian forces are also imposing strict measures on the tops of the mountains overlooking Baalbek and Riyaq.
Syria has mined several regions along the porous border to prevent the smuggling of weapons and infiltration of rebel fighters.
Lebanon and Syria share a 330-kilometer border but have yet to agree on official demarcation.
Earlier on Saturday, Syrian authorities succeeded in thwarting an armed terrorist group from infiltrating Syria from Lebanon, reported state-run Syrian agency SANA on Sunday.
In addition, Syrian authorities also thwarted a similar infiltration on Friday night whereby armed terrorist groups were trying to enter Reef Homs from Lebanon.
A source from the region said a clash erupted between concerned authorities in Syria and the armed group as they were trying to enter Homs.
“They killed six of the terrorists and wounded four in Reef Qusayr while the rest managed to make it back to Lebanon,” stated the source.
It added that the concerned authorities thwarted infiltrations from Lebanon into Syria in the areas of Halat and al-Arida.
“Clashes ensued between them and some terrorists fled back to Lebanon where ambulances helped transport the wounded into Lebanese territory,” they continued.
