War Memories: Sayyed Nasrallah, Haifa Not a Red Line Anymore..

On July 16, 2006, the Zionist military machine continued its aggression on Lebanon. The southern Dahyeh suburb was pounded heavily, witnessing a high level of destruction not seen even during the 1982 Zionist invasion of Lebanon, while warships and warplanes were bombing different regions and villages in the south, the Bekaa and the north.

The Resistance responded by targeting vital places in the city of Haifa, where the train station was bombed. Enemy media sources confirmed the death of 9 residents and dozens more wounded.

Later on the day, Zionist fighter jets went too far in attacks. Hezbollah’s Mujahedeen launched rockets targeting areas beyond Haifa, "Raad-1 & -2"- type rockets were for the first time falling in areas near Afula, Upper Nazareth and Givat Ela.

AGGRESSION

More blood was shed on Sunday, July 16, 2006. More citizens were killed during the violent assault on Dahye, over the regions of Haret Hriek, Beir al-Abd and Ghobeiry.

Al Manar Channel building was targeted and completely leveled. The broadcast had been cut after the Israeli raid, however it soon returned after few moments.

The ports of Beirut, Tripoli and Jounieh were hit by the fire of Zionist submarines, as well as the Beacon Ras Beirut. Baalbeck city was also bombed.

Turning to south Lebanon, Zionist warplanes and submarines bombed the cities of Sidon, Tyre, Bent Jbeil, Nabateih and Marjeoun, alond side with the towns of Houla, Markaba, Kfarshouba, Taibe, and several other villages like Marwaheen, where dozens were killed in the Israeli massacre. The bombardment led to the destruction of houses, schools, hospitals and amusement parks.

All the Lebanese coastal radars were completely destructed. The number of martyrs who fell in the south on this day alone reached 50.

At the end of the day, 116 Lebanese citizens were killed, and 316 others wounded.

POLITICS

The then Lebanese President Emile Lahoud accused Israel on Sunday of using banned weapons against civilians in its military offensive Lebanon.

“Israeli forces have fired phosphorus incendiary bombs, which are a blatant violation of international laws," Lahoud said.

Speaker Nabih Berri slammed as well the Arab passiveness towards the ‘Israeli’ aggression on Lebanon. While the then Lebanese PM Foad Siniora declared Lebanon a devastated country and called on the world states for assistance. Finance Minister Jihad Azour said the country’s economy had lost till that day half a billion dollars.

MUJAHEDEEN RESPONSE


Zionist government closed all facilities located northern Occupied Territories in anticipation of the fall of Resistance rockets. Hezbollah launch its missiles over Keryat Shmoneh, Karmael, Nihariya, Tiberias, Lower Galilee, Safad, Amiad and many other vital points.

For the first time since the Gulf war, IOF deployed two Patriot batteries in Haifa, and declared the state of alert in “Tel Aviv” and southern of the Occupied Territories. Residents in “Tel Aviv” were asked to go down to shelters, where those in Haifa complained of the lack of shelters to protect them from Mujahedeen’s anger.

Zionist channel reported that Hezbollah had succeeded in hitting one of the vital facilities in Haifa, where heavy displacement witnessed from northern Occupied Territories to the south. The death toll in Haifa rose to 9, along with 40 others wounded.

AL-SAYYED

On the same day, Hezbollah Secretary General delivered a televised speech, in which he stressed that the “enemy targeting civil infrastructure signifies its inability to face the Mujahedeen.”
His eminence stated “we (the Resistance) are managing our operations in an unexpected way,” adding that “we have no red line in confronting the enemy anymore.”

Sayyed Nasrallah promised Zionist army that it would be surprised on land, just like it had been surprised in sea.

On July 16, 2006, the second surprise was declared: Haifa is not a red line anymore ...
