Tehran: Iron Dome Fragile

Yeha Dbouk - al-Akhbar Daily*

Two days after a drone infiltrated the airspace of occupied Palestine, the "Israeli" military deployed an antimissile, antiaircraft "Patriot" battery in al-Karmel (Carmel City) north of occupied Palestine.

Sources of the "Israeli" military refused to relate the battery deployment to the infiltration.
The "Israeli" Hebrew media, however, confirmed the "Israeli" military deployed the battery upon fear of the presence of more drones attempting to infiltrate the airspace of occupied Palestine. Besides, "Israeli" reports said the "Israeli" security institution increased vigilance among its air forces in consequence with the infiltration.

Hizbullah was now most likely held responsible for launching the drone, declared the Hebrew channel, adding that experts of the "Israeli" air forces and intelligence joined the parts of the drone, which "Israel" had blasted earlier. Apparently, the drone was unarmed; it was sent on an intelligence mission. The "Israeli" military hadn't so far determined the drone's kind, nor had the military figured out how it infiltrated the airspace of occupied Palestine.

Yet, the military could certainly tell it hadn't been launched in the Gaza Strip, the channel pointed out.

The drone belonged to a category of big, developed drones, which could be remote-controlled by devices set in containers, the channel said. The drone was designed by modern Eastern technology, usually owned by very well-equipped states or organizations like Hizbullah, the channel also said.

For its part, the Tehran-based "Iran Republic News Agency (IRNA)" reported the statement of "the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC)" Coordination Deputy Commander Brigadier General Jamal Eddine Aberoumand, "Since the drone flew 100 km above the occupied Arab Palestinian lands, we can tell the defense system of "the Iron Dome" is fragile." Aberoumand, however, pointed out, "The Zionist entity's claims as to the infiltration of this drone into the occupied Arab Palestinian lands might be some kind of psychological war the entity is exercising. We must keep in mind that the Zionist entity has many enemies that may be responsible for such acts."

For his part, UNIFIL official spokesman Andrea Tenenti denied that the UNIFIL (United Nations Interim Forces in Lebanon) had monitored any drone launched into the Lebanese airspace.
