The main extremist rebel groups in Aleppo province, including al-Nusra Front and Liwa al-Tawhid, have rejected a newly-formed Syrian opposition bloc, saying they want an "Islamic" state, in a video posted on the Internet Monday.
"We, the fighting squads of Aleppo city and province, unanimously reject
the conspiratorial project of the so-called "National Coalition" and announce
our consensus to establish an Islamic state in Syria," the statement
said.
In parallel, the speaker in the video listed a number of armed
rebels groups that agree with the declared position.
The list included: Free Levant Brigades, Syria Free, Islamic
Aleppo Brigades, Islamic Dawn Movement, Shield of Nation, Andan Brigades, Islam
Brigades, Mohammad's Army Brigade, Victory Brigade, Baz Battalion, Sultan
Mohammed battalion, and the Islam Armor Brigade.
