A US-led military coalition is prepared to take military action in
Syria if the regime is using chemical weapons against the armed opposition, and
this action could include "Israel", the Times reported.
“It’s premature to say what could happen if a decision is made to intervene.
That hasn’t taken shape, we’ve not reached that kind of decision. There are a
lot of options, but it could be launched rapidly, within days,” the British
daily quoted a US official as saying.
“The US intervention would involve Britain and other allies, and could
include Turkey and Jordan," the source added.
This comes after Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu said Tuesday that “we are
monitoring closely, along with the international community, the events in Syria
with regard to the chemical weapons stockpiles... these weapons cannot be used
or transferred to terrorist organizations.”
