The recent moves on the Syrian crisis, reflect attitudes and features a solution being worked on after Washington and its allies felt that war on Syria for nearly two years did not achieve its goal, and that the Syrian regime is finally making clear advance on the ground, thanks to the bravery and integrity of the Syrian army and people, in spite of all support to armed opposition groups, whether in terms of armament and equipment or in terms of sending mercenaries.
Out of sudden Saudi Arabia and Egypt on Saturday called for a peaceful solution to the conflict roiling Syria, but said the terms of a settlement to end the bloodshed there must be defined by the Syrian people....
“A peaceful solution in Syria is necessary and it is desired by Arab countries and the international community,” Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Saud al-Faisal said at a joint news conference with his Egyptian counterpart Mohammed Kamel Amr...
"But the way out of the crisis and the conditions for a solution are the responsibility of the Syrian people."
Amr expressed similar views.
“If a peaceful solution can stop the bloodshed it will be desirable, but ultimately it is the Syrian people who will decide how to solve their problems,” he said.
Saudi Arabia and Egypt, two Arab heavyweights, have repeatedly called for the ouster of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad amid the raging violence gripping the country.
Today, Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad drew the map of a proposed solution to the crisis in Syria that includes a national reconciliation conference and a new government and constitution,
but demanded regional and Western countries stop funding and arming terrorists first...
“Everyone who comes to Syria knows that Syria accepts advice but not orders.”
"The first stage of a political solution would require that regional powers stop funding and arming (the opposition), an end to terrorist operations and controlling the borders,"
Assad made it clear that the crisis in Syria was an opportunity to transfer a “huge number of terrorists to turn Syria into a 'land of Jihad'”.
“We are facing a state of war in every sense of the word,” the president assured...
Assad assured that the ongoing conflict in Syria is nor between the state and the
opposition but rather between the Syrian nation and its enemies.
"Those Syria faces today are those who carry the al-Qaeda ideology," he said.
The Syrian president warned "there is an agenda to partition Syria, especially with foreign mercenaries brought in the country to fight side by side with the terrorist armed groups."
"There are those who seek to partition Syria and weaken it. But Syria is stronger and will remain sovereign. This is what upsets the West," he explained.
"We never rejected a political solution … but with whom should we talk?
With
those who have extremist ideology who only understand the language of
terrorism?" he said. "We dialogue with the master not with the slave."
“Just because we have not found a partner, it does not mean we are not interested in a political solution, but that we did not find a partner,” he said. "Or should we negotiate with puppets made by the West".
Assad stressed on battling the terrorists line in line with a political
solution. “Reforms are required in one hand, and battling terrorism in the
other. If we chose political solution firstly, that doesn't mean we shouldn't
defend ourselves.”
Assad said that the homeland is not for those who lived in, but for those who
defended it, stressing that any attempt to entangle Palestinians in the crisis
aims at deviating the compass from the real enemy. The attempts failed before it starts .
The Palestinian in Syria doing his duty towards his second home as any Syrian. We in Syria, the state and the people bear the responsibility to do our duty toward any Palestinian and toward any Syrian .
Assad greeted all honest Palestinians for fulfillment of the Covenant and blood brotherhood, and appreciation of the Syria's positions and and did not treat Syria as a hotel for recreation leaving it when circumstances change.
Bashar al-Assad assured that liberating the Golan Heights will remain a cause to Syria, just like the Palestinian cause remains to be a central cause.
"We will remain to support the Resistance against the sole [Israeli} enemy," he accentuated.
Assad appealed to all Syrians to join together to defend the nation. He lauded people in the villages that tried to block the entrance of militants from Turkey, adding that "the nation is for those who protect it."
“Nation is
for everybody, everybody should defend it. Being negative and waiting for others
to solve the problem is running into the abyss.”
The president, who was
frequently interrupted by chants of "With our soul, with our blood we sacrifice
ourselves for you O Bashar", stressed throughout his speech that the Syrian
people must decide their future alone.
Assad thanked Russia, China, Iran and everyone who rejected
foreign interference in Syrian affairs.
He also greeted Syrian army,
officers and everyone who defended the homeland, paying tribute to all martyrs
whose blood had overthrown the 'fake western-‘Spring’, which he described as a
‘soap bubble’.
