28 Pages: Newly Released Classified Documents Indicate Saudi Ties to 9/11

Local Editor

The long-awaited 28 pages of a 2002 congressional report on the 9/11 attacks had been released. The document indicates that prominent members of the Saudi Arabian regime were involved in planning and financing the terror attacks.
The declassified documents were released by Congress on Friday and released them the same day. The release of the documents confirmed suspicions that the terrorists involved in the 9/11 attacks – most of whom were Saudi nationals – likely received support from high-ranking Saudi intelligence officers.
“While in the United States, some of the September 11 hijackers were in contact with, and received support or assistance from, individuals who may have be connected to the Saudi Government,” the report states. “There is information, primarily from FBI sources, that at least two of those individuals were alleged by some to be Saudi intelligence officers.”
The documents go on to explain that the magnitude of Saudi involvement isn’t clear because the US government only began to “aggressively investigate” after the attack already occurred.
“In their testimony, neither CIA nor FBI witnesses were able to identify definitely the extent of Saudi support for terrorist activity globally or within the United States and the extent to which such support, if it exists, is knowing or inadvertent in nature,” the report states.
However, it does list prominent Saudis suspected of being involved with terrorism by US intelligence agencies.
Omar al-Bayoumi, whom the FBI suspected to be a Saudi intelligence officer due to a “half dozen reports,” is given a detailed summary in the newly released documents. The report starts that FBI files indicate that al-Bayoumi provided “substantial assistance” to 9/11 hijackers Khalid al-Midhar and Nawaf al-Hazmi, two of the five terrorists who crashed American Airlines Flight 77 into the Pentagon.
In February 2000, al-Bayoumi met with the hijackers in a public place in San Diego “shortly after his meeting with an individual at the Saudi consulate.”
The report says that there is reason to believe that al-Bayoumi’s meeting with the terrorists was not accidental. He had “extensive contact” with Saudi government establishments in the US during the same time as the meeting with the hijackers, making over 100 phone calls to such establishments and received repeated financial support from a Saudi company called “Ercan,” which itself received money from the Saudi Ministry of Defense.
A member of Ercan told the FBI that he tried to refuse to pay al-Bayoumi, but the company told him that if al-Bayoumi wasn’t paid, it would lose its contract with the Saudi Defense Ministry.
“According to FBI files … al-Bayoumi received a monthly salary [Ercan] even though he had had only been there on one occasion,” the report says. “The support increased substantially in April 2000, two months after the hijackers arrived in San Diego, decreased slightly in December 2000, and stayed at that same level until August 2001. That company reportedly had ties to Osama bin Laden and al-Qaeda.”
Al-Bayoumi is also stated to have had repeated contact with the Emir at the Saudi Ministry of Defense, to have worked for the Saudi Civil Aviation Administration for nearly two decades, to have received a $20,000 payment from the Saudi Ministry of Finance at one point, and to have received a full scholarship from the government of Saudi Arabia to graduate school.
The report further implicates the suspected government agent in supporting 9/11 terrorists by his close association with Osama Bassnan, who himself is known to have had extensive contact with al-Midhar and al-Hazmi. He lived across the street from the two hijackers and told an FBI asset that he met the men through al-Bayoumi, and claims that al-Bayoumi “knew the men very well.” Bassnan told the same asset that he “did more than Al-Bayoumi did for the hijackers,” the report states.
The report says that the FBI received indication that Bassnan himself was a supporter of Osama bin Laden who might have been a Saudi intelligence officer.
“According to a CIA memo, Bassnan reportedly received funding and possibly a fake passport from Saudi Government officials. He and his wife have received financial support from the Saudi Ambassador to the United States and his wife,” the report states, adding that Bassnan had also received money from a member of the Saudi royal family.
Also implicated in the report is a US-based corporation, and, by association, Prince Bandar bin Sultan, a member of the House of Saud who served as Saudi Arabia’s ambassador to the US from 1983 to 2005.
The report linked Abu Zubaida, a senior Al-Qaeda operative captured in 2002, to certain numbers in the United States by going through his phonebook. One of those numbers is subscribed to by Aspen-based ASPCOL Corporation, a company that was managed the affairs of Ambassador bin Sultan, even though the phone number was unlisted.
Several individuals on the East Coast whom the hijackers are believed to have met with also had likely connections to the Saudi government. During September 2001, after the 9/11 attacks, the FBI discovered that a Saudi Interior Ministry official named Saleh al-Hussayen stayed in the same hotel as hijacker al-Hazmi. He is a major donor to Islamic Assembly of North America, an organization dedicated to the spread of Salafi Islamic fundamentalism worldwide that Prince Bandar also donated to.
The report cautions that the information presented should not be taken as a complete or perfectly reliable assessment of the information presented, since it is largely a compilation of FBI and CIA documents.
“It was not the task of this Joint Inquiry to conduct the kind of extensive investigation that would be required to determine the true significance of any such alleged connections to the Saudi government,” it stated.
However, the report did indicate that information it presented strongly points to elements of the Saudi government having a hand in the 9/11 attacks.
“[I]t is possible that these kinds of connections could suggest … ‘incontrovertible evidence that there is support for these terrorists within the Saudi government,'” the report said, quoting a document from July 2002, which had its name redacted.
“On the other hand,” the reported stated, continuing, “it is also possible that further investigation of these allegations could reveal legitimate, and innocent, explanations for these associations.”
Saudi Arabia, an ally to the US in the Middle East, has firmly denied any involvement in the attacks and repudiated the accusations against it. The nation had previously fought against the declassification of the 28 pages.
Just in April, Riyadh threatened the US with economic fallout if Congress passed a bill that would allow the Saudi government to be held responsible based on findings from Friday’s report.
Adel al-Jubeir, the Saudi foreign minister, personally told US lawmakers that Saudi Arabia would be forced to sell up to $750 billion in treasury securities and other assets in the United States if the 9/11 bill passes, since they would be worried that the assets could be frozen in American courts.
This tune changed with Friday’s release of the documents, with the Riyadh officially welcoming the report, in hopes that it would remove suspicions about the Saudi government’s actions.
“Since 2002, the 9/11 Commission and several government agencies, including the CIA and the FBI, have investigated the contents of the ’28 Pages’ and have confirmed that neither the Saudi government, nor senior Saudi officials, nor any person acting on behalf of the Saudi government provided any support or encouragement for these attacks,” Abdullah al-Saud, Saudi Arabia’s ambassador to the United States, said in a statement, according to Reuters.
“We hope the release of these pages will clear up, once and for all, any lingering questions or suspicions about Saudi Arabia’s actions, intentions, or long-term friendship with the United States.”

Erdogan’s policies led to very fragile balance of civil unity, as coup reveals – analyst to RT

RT

President Erdogan was always risking a state collapse by pursuing his repressive policies and befriending Islamism, political analyst Catherine Shakdam tells RT.
Follow RT’s Live Updates here
In this sense, the coup attempt isn’t all that surprising, Shakdam says, adding that Erdogan’s attempts to save his presidency instead of the actual country have compounded the problem. She calls these attempts “dangerous, because this could drive not just violence, but lead to a civil war. Turkey is not sitting pretty when it comes to civil unity. And this could quickly degenerate if the military doesn’t grab hold of the situation.”

Over 2,800 arrested, 265 killed, 1,440 injured in Turkish coup attempt
Shakdam argues that Erdogan risked social upheaval by ignoring the pleas of his people and aggressively quashing any form of dissent, pushing the nation further towards the brink of desperation.
“Erdogan policies of ethnocentrism,” particularly with regard to the Kurds, “have played against him and could ultimately actually cost him his presidency, if not more.”
The US calls Turkey a “key NATO member,” and the country has the second largest military in the alliance after the Americans. It stands to reason that instability in Turkey will only further fan the flames of the situation Ankara created when it opened its doors to extremist groups like Islamic State [IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL], Shakdam believes.
With the government in disarray, she fears that terrorists could vie for control over parts of Turkey. And, of course, the Americans have an air base and nuclear weapons there too.
Another concern is that political alliances could now shift, particularly with respect to Washington’s attitude towards Syria and Turkey’s relationship with Iran and Russia.
“It would be of Turkey’s interest again to make friends with Russia and Iran – and Syria, of course – and try to kind of disengage from what is happening in Syria.”
According to Shakdam, this could provide Turkey with the opportunity to reinvent itself politically and allow it to serve as“a bridge between East and West.”
“It would be a good thing for Turkey to be back to being neutral. Because we need to have some countries in the Middle East that are stable enough, big enough, with enough military power to be able to bring some sense into the situation.”

‘Erdogan to strengthen grip on Turkey’

In the meantime, the failed coup attempt is likely to boost the popularity of Erdogan and thus allow him to tighten up his grip on Turkey and launch an even bigger crackdown on his opponents, several experts told RT.
“The major result of this [coup attempt] could be actually in Erdogan’s favor and even increase his popularity,” Ali Rizk, a Middle East expert, told RT, adding that the Turkish president, who “has always had his political aspirations to strengthen his grip on Turkey in general,” will probably use what happened on Friday “to achieve his political goals.”
Rizk also warned that “there is going to be a big clampdown” and the witch hunt “is going to intensify.”
“This could indeed transform Turkey from ‘a beacon of democracy’ into a police state. With these particular developments taking place, I do expect that Turkey will walk more and more on the way of an authoritarian police state,” he added.
His words were echoed by Jeremy Salt, an associate professor of Middle Eastern history and politics at Bilkent University in Ankara, who told RT that the coup will lead to an increase in Erdogan’s popularity and further suppression of political opposition, justified by the hunt for traitors.
“On top of this, we have ongoing prosecutions of a large number of parliamentarians, including many members of the pro-Kurdish People’s Democratic Party (HDP) but also other politicians as well. And in that climate, successful prosecutions are more likely,”Salt said.
At the same time, some believe that the Turkish president is losing support from the West. The fact that Western powers did not lend any significant assistance to Erdogan as a military faction tried to overthrow him shows that his support in the West is fading, Ali Rizk told RT.
“If such a coup had happened four or five years ago, we would have seen even Western military assistance for Erdogan. The fact that this did not happen this time does show the extent of indifference certain western leaders have to the Turkish president,” he believes.

CORRUPTED BY SAUDI MONEY, UMMAH REMAINS SILENT ON ZAKZAKY’S IMPRISONMENT 7 MONTHS ON

zakzaky massacre
JULY 13, 2016 MADDCOLDSONOFKUFA LEAVE A COMMENT
by Jonathan Azaziah
Seven months now. Sheikh Ibrahim Yaqoub al-Zakzaky has been unjustly imprisoned in a hellish dungeon by the US-Zionist-Saudi-controlled Nigerian regime of Muhammadhu Buhari for seven months now and the collective apathy from the Muslim world has only grown. A modern-day saint, Africa’s premier champion of the Palestinian cause, a pillar of Resistance, an Islamic scholar of the highest caliber and a revolutionary mind surpassed by very few, the Sheikh’s name should be on the lips of every Muslim in the world, yet the Ummah, on this matter, has ostensibly teleported to a distant planet and simply cannot be bothered. How is it that a moujahid of Zakzaky’s stature can be shot, tortured, throw into a cell on false charges, his wife shot and also locked up, three more of his sons murdered (the other three were assassinated on Quds Day 2014), his daughter attacked, his deputy slain, his home destroyed, the masjid where he teaches razed, and hundreds to thousands of his partisans and students slaughtered then dumped in a mass grave underneath the ruins of everything he built with his bare hands without the outcry of any “Muslim” organization on the planet?
Outside of the Resistance Axis and the communities of the states and movements that comprise it, not to mention the beautiful people of occupied Kashmir, there isn’t a single “Muslim” state or mainstream “human rights” group claiming to speak for the Islamic Diaspora in the West that has come forward for Zakzaky and the innocent lives lost in the Zaria Massacre; nothing from CAIR and not a word from the OIC. Why? This isn’t a brain-tease; it’s not a strenuous task to figure out what the deal is but I will spell it out for you anyway. Because the piggish petrol pukes of the GCC who call themselves “kings” and “emirs”, the Saudi demons most especially, have paid everyone to be quiet.
Take down Qadhafi and level Libya? Yell it loud says Al-Saud!
Take down the Syrian Arab Republic led by Dr. Bashar al-Assad (or at least try to)? Scream it louder says Al-Saud!
Spread the filthiest of filthy lies about Hizbullah and Iran? Do it big says Al-Saud!
Recognize ‘Israel’, accept its criminal, genocidal presence in our midst and call it an ally? Zionism is super-halal says Al-Saud!
Murder Yemeni babies in the name of “legitimacy” for a wholly illegitimate regime? Super-DUPER-halal says Al-Saud! But coming to the defense of an anti-Zionist, anti-Wahhabi, anti-Imperialist Nigerian leader whose followers were massacred in one of the most barbaric crimes you will ever come across? SHUT YOUR MOUTH AND SHUT IT HARD says Al-Saud!
Thus, standing for Sheikh Ibrahim Yaqoub al-Zakzaky and the Zaria Martyrs isn’t just a stance of righteousness taken for a man who belongs free and back on the streets with his people to do the good work ALLAH (SWT) put him here to do. It is also a stance of justice taken as part and parcel of our Islamic Liberationist project to bring forth the end of Zionism, Rothschild-financed Imperialism and Dönmeh Wahhabi-Takfirism, for the Sheikh and the Islamic Movement of Nigeria are as much victims of the US-‘Israeli’ Empire as Palestinians, Lebanese, Yemenis, Iraqis, Syrians, Bahrainis, Afghans and Kashmiris. Zakzaky said that our weapons are positive reasoning, good manners and the truth. So let us broadcast the truth to Earth’s ends since the rest of the Ummah has been put into an induced coma by Saudi oil-and-gas cash. We are all that he and the oppressed Nigerian Shi’a have. We owe him this. For all the light that he has beamed into Nigeria and the example that he has set for Moustazafeen everywhere, we owe him our service, our voices, our words, our writings, our du’a and so, SO much more. ‪

Turkey’s Coup Attempt: Erdogan still in Charge, Scores Killed, Wounded, 700+ Detained

Army commanders arrested after failed coup attempt in Turkey
Local Editor
Turkish President Recep Tayyip ensured the country Saturday that his government was in control after a coup attempt brought a night of explosions, dog fights, gunfire and arrest across the capital, leaving dozens dead, at least 150 people wounded and many of the country’s armed forces arrested.
turkish coup
An official in the president’s office said at least 60, including 17 police officers, were killed and at least 754 members of the armed forces were arrested.
In parallel, police sources said that 16 coup plotters were killed and 250 arrested in Ankara clashes.
Government officials said it appeared the coup failed as Turks took to the streets overnight to confront troops attempting to take over the country. However, the sounds of explosions, including one that hit the parliament complex, continued to echo across the capital, Ankara, and Istanbul throughout the morning.
Meanwhile, Erdogan arrived at Istanbul’s Ataturk Airport on Saturday morning and addressed the crowd of supporters that had gathered there.
For his part, Justice Minister Bekir Bozdag said security forces defeated coup plotters in several places, including police and government buildings, according to the state-run Anadolu news agency.
Relatively, it was not clear who was in control of the military headquarters and Erdogan had not left the airport as dawn broke.
Earlier, Erdogan said the government was arresting coup supporters in the military.
However, those on the pro-coup side dismissed the notion that Erdogan was in control.
In an emailed statement to Reuters, the pro-coup faction said they are determined to fight and urged people to stay indoors. Reports of ongoing violence further fueled the notion that the government still hadn’t attained full power.

Turkey PM Says 161 Dead in Coup Bid, Almost 3,000 Held

Local Editor
Turkey PMTurkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim said Saturday 161 people were killed in the coup attempt against the government, with 2,839 soldiers now detained on suspicion of involvement.
Yildirim, speaking outside his Cankaya palace in Ankara and flanked by top general Hulusi Akar who was held during the coup attempt, also described the putsch bid as a “black stain” on Turkish democracy. He added that 1,440 people had been wounded.
The toll 161 did not include the assailants, he emphasized. Turkey’s acting army chief Umit Dundar had earlier said 104 putschists had been killed.
Yildirim blamed the coup attempt on the supporters of US-based Turkish cleric Fethullah Gulen, who Ankara has for years accused of working to overthrow the authorities and wants to see brought to justice.
The United States has shown little interest so far to Turkey’s requests for his extradition.
“Fethullah Gulen is the leader of a terrorist organization,” the premier said.
“Whichever country is behind him is not a friend of Turkey and in a serious war against Turkey,” he added.

Just the excuse they needed, France to Escalate Illegal Strikes in Syria

France to Escalate Strikes in Syria and Iraq After Nice Attack

Hollande to extend the state of emergency by another three months.

French Prime Minister Francois Hollande said Friday morning local time that he would “strengthen our actions” in Syria and Iraq and extend the state of emergency by another three months, hours after a truck plowed into a crowd of Bastille Day revelers in Nice, killing at least 84 people and injuring scores more.
ANALYSIS:
Look South: Hollande’s Terror Blunder is Tunisia, Not Syria
The assault was the third such terrorist attack in Western Europe in eight months. Police identified the driver of the van as Mohamed Lahouaiej Bouhlel, a 31-year-old Tunisian living in France. Witnesses said that Bouhlel opened fire before officers returned fire and fatally shot him. He was known to the police in connection with a series of petty street crimes but was not on the watch list of French intelligence services, Reuters reporterd Friday.
“We will strengthen our actions in Syria and Iraq, we will continue to strike those that attack us from their cells,” said Hollande in a national address. He said he will present the plan to extend the state of emergency to parliament next week. He had said earlier that he would end the months-long state of emergency on July 26.
And later, in a second address delivered at dawn, Hollande said: ¨France is filled with sadness by this new tragedy.¨
“The casualties of this tragedy are huge — 80 people are dead, 18 in critical condition, many people are injured. Our thoughts go, once again, with the families of the victims, with those who are now deeply affected and feel an immense sorrow. But also with all the residents of Nice, who tonight were deeply traumatized and plunged into a state of worry,” said Cazeneuve.
The driver, who drove at high speed for over one mile along the famed Promenade des Anglais seafront before hitting the mass of spectators, was shot dead, Sub-Prefect Sebastien Humbert told France Infos radio.
Cazeneuve said he had not been definitively identified.
“The identification of the criminal is currently being worked on, as well as investigating whether or not he had accomplice” said the interior minister.
Neither he nor other political leaders who spoke publicly in the hours after the attack confirmed media reports that the assailant was a Nice resident of Tunisian origin.

Military personnel have already rushed to the scene, and Hollande said that he would deploy more reserves and guards to deal with the emergency situation. He said that “all means necessary” would be used “wherever necessary.”
Thursday marked a day of festivities for Bastille Day, a national holiday in France.

No cause for the attack is yet clear, but the mayor of Nice has confirmed that the truck carried weapons and grenades. French media are also reporting that the driver fired shots while running into the crowd, which has not been officially confirmed.
Hollande said that “the terrorist character of the attack cannot be denied.” The anti-terrorism prosecutor is still investigating the attack.
French Prime Minister Manuel Valls said the country had “been hit by a coward and inhuman terrorist act.”
“We want to say to the French people, and with a lot of force: we will not give in. France will not give in to the terrorist threat. We have moved into a new era, and France will have to live with terrorism,” said Valls.
The French consulate in Turkey had cancelled its Bastille Day celebrations earlier due to security threats, reported Liberation.
Almost eight months ago, Islamic State group militants killed 130 people in Paris. On Sunday, France had breathed a sigh of relief as the month-long Euro 2016 soccer tournament ended without a feared attack.
