GAZA, (PIC)-- The water authority in the coastal areas in northern Gaza Strip announced on Monday that an Israeli air strike has destroyed the Atatrah water well that supplies the Atatrah and the Salateen areas, cutting water supply to more than 10,000 Palestinians in the area.
In press statement he made over the incident, Munther Shablak, the director of the authority, pointed out that the aerial raid directly hit the well and destroyed it, leaving inhabitants of the two areas fighting for survival.
But Shablak underlined that technical teams of the authority were immediately dispatched to the affected area to repair and restore water supplies to the people, adding that the water sector was badly damaged by the Israeli bombardment, causing catastrophic repercussions to many projects in the area.
In a related matter, the Quds Brigades, the military wing of the Islamic Jihad Movement, stressed the right of the Palestinian resistance to retaliate to every Israeli attack on the Palestinian people, underlining that any calm agreement with the occupation must halt all forms of Israeli hostilities against the Palestinian people.
Abu Hamza, the spokesman of the Brigades, added that the Palestinian people don't differentiate between Israeli leaders because "all of them are enemies of the Palestinian people, and working to exterminate them".
Meanwhile, Palestinian teenager Salah Afanah of Ramallah city was shot in the foot by Israeli occupation soldiers manning the Kalandia crossing point that separates the occupied city of Jerusalem from the rest of the West Bank. The soldiers claimed that Afanah attempted to escape arrest, but Afanah categorically denied the allegation.
A lawyer from the prisoner's club quoted Afanah as saying that he was blindfolded and transferred to Atarut detention center before they put him under investigation for 12 continuous hours, during which, they threatened to execute him and harm his family.
Although Afanah's wounds were serious and need immediate medical treatment, the Israeli prison authority ignored his appeals and retained him in jail, the lawyer pointed out.

According to the Palestinian sources, the Italians promised to sponsor more Palestinian orphans with the aim to alleviate the burden on their families, vowing to convey the tragic scene in Gaza to the Italian people.
In a related matter, the Palestinian Awfeya'a (faithful) society inaugurated a new refugee camp in the Salateen area, north of the devastated Strip, in coordination with the supreme committee for administering refugee camps.
Jihad Al-Zard, the chairman of the society, pointed out that the new camp comprises 90 big tents, each of them could accommodate ten persons, adding that the tents were donated by the Palestinian Red Crescent, and the 10000 sq meter land was donated by the Beit Lahia municipality.
Electricity supply, infrastructure, and sewerage system were provided in the new camp, Zard added, vowing to continue supporting the displaced families with basic needs as much as they could.
Municipal mayor Ibrahim Redwan seconded Zard's remarks and confirmed that the camp was temporary until the reconstruction program in Gaza Strip started once the crossing points are opened.
