27/06/2010 Lebanese army intelligence agents arrested on Thursday the chief of the Alfa mobile phone company’s transmission and broadcast section—identified only by his initials of S.K—on suspicions of providing Israel with sensitive information, Lebanese daily Ad-Diyar reported on Sunday.

The daily said that the suspect’s job enabled him to have access to information few other employees have.

It also added that the army intelligence is questioning the suspect to determine if other employees were working with him in providing Israel with information.

PERMANENT MILITARY COURT POSTPONES TRIAL OF COLONEL CHARGED WITH SPYING

Meanwhile, Colonel Shahid Toumiyeh's trial has been postponed until June 29 after his attorney presented a medical report over his psychological state that will be included in Tuesday's trial.

Toumiyeh is accused of collaborating with Israel where he abused his military standing to present the Jewish state with detailed information on the locations of secret military and security positions.

He also provided it with information on leading figures in Lebanon through coded messages that were relayed through modern equipment.

The charge also includes Toumiyeh aiding Israel in its assaults against Lebanese targets, as well as forming ties with it and providing it with information on Lebanon's military establishment.
