Shaaban: Arab Christians, Muslims will overcome Zionists’ so-called Arab Spring

May 08, 2014

Damascus, (SANA) Presidential Political and Media Advisor Bouthaina Shaaban said the attempts at keeping the Arab and Islamic nations busy with internal issues aim to distract them from the Arab-Israeli conflict to reach to eventually liquidating this conflict in line with the Zionists’ wishes.
“The causes of the occupied Palestine and Syrian Golan, in addition to all other occupied Arab territories, are the compass of all the events in the region,” Shaaban told a press conference following an urgent meeting held by the Board of Trustees of al-Quds International Foundation.
While dismissing the Zionists’ so-called Arab Spring as “a bloody Arab winter”, Shaaban stressed that this alleged spring will yield “a real Arab spring with its key tools will be in the hands of the Arab nation”.
Those tools, she said, are “resistance and the continued struggle to return the Arab rights to their legitimate owners”.
Shaaban told reporters that today’s meeting, which was held at al-Sham Hotel in Damascus, focused on discussing the “dangerous situation” of al-Aqsa Mosque and Jerusalem city and the Zionist systematic acts of aggression inflicted upon the Palestinian people.
24 mosques, 6 churches and 4 historic monuments have been destroyed by the Israeli occupation forces in the past two months alone, she noted, adding that one of the demolished mosques has been transformed into a Jewish Knesset.
“The Zionist attempts targeting al-Aqsa Mosque are aimed at partitioning it in the same way the Ibrahimi Mosque was before, and we are listening to their calls to transform the Mosque into a Jewish worship place,” said Shaaban.
She asserted that nobody will ever be able to jettison the value of co-existence that has marked the region over thousands of years.

“The Arab peoples, both the Muslims and Christians, are well able to overcome this distress and come to building a homeland of co-existence that has no room for a Jewish state,” Shaaban added.
While warning that the Zionist attacks are posing real imminent threats to all the religious centers in Palestine, Shaaban said the ongoing crisis in Syria has revealed it all.
Syria is leading “a just Arab war to maintain the principles and Arab identity of the Arab nation, she stressed, adding the battle from Palestine to Iraq, Libya and Syria “is one battle against terrorism and in defense of fraternity and tolerance”.
For his part, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of al-Quds International Foundation Bassel Jadaan expressed his view that the Arab and Islamic governments’ disregard to the daily violations committed by Israel are “a dangerous issue” as the battle of Palestine should be the real battle of the Arab nation.
He pointed out that the Board will issue a statement urging the Arab and Islamic governments to assume their responsibilities and duties towards protecting Jerusalem and its Islamic and Christian sanctities.
Al-Quds International Foundation is a civil institution that includes various Arab, Islamic and international figures and bodies and aims at saving Jerusalem and preserving its Arab identity and religious sanctities.
