Fearing Russia-EU Economic Integration US Provoking Moscow Over Ukraine
Washington is using the atrocities committed by Kiev against Russians in Ukraine to force Putin’s hand to send troops to Ukraine, sabotaging Moscow’s prospective economic integration with Europe, former Assistant Secretary of the Treasury Paul Craig Roberts told RIA Novosti Monday.
“Washington’s purpose is to force Russia to confirm Washington’s propaganda about invasion and annexation, and to use Russian intervention to force Europe to break off economic relations with Russia. Washington is fearful of economic integration between Europe and Russia, especially on such an important front as energy,” Roberts said, adding Putin is hoping restraint on Russia’s part will make it difficult for European politicians to go against their countries’ business interests, thereby frustrating Washington’s plan to isolate Russia from the West.
“Germany’s Merkel seems to be more under the thumb of Washington than she is responsive to German business interests,” Roberts asserted, hinting Washington’s efforts to steal $10 billion from France’s largest bank has made France less open to the US.
Roberts underlined that Putin needs to have direct face-to-face talks with Hollande and Merkel and determine whether Washington’s strategy or Moscow’s strategy will win.
“Putin needs to do this, because his failure to protect the Russian parts of Ukraine except for Crimea is undermining his support in Russia,” Roberts emphasized, warning that Putin is vulnerable inside his own country as the US can mobilize its NGOs against the Russian President “just as Washington put its Ukrainian NGOs in the streets in Kiev.”
The former Assistant Secretary of the Treasury believes if Putin cannot get the right answers from Hollande and Merkel, Russia should turn off energy supplies to Europe, accept that Europe is controlled by Washington, accept that Washington is Russia’s committed enemy, and look to the East.
“Russia and China should help India to rise. There is very little left of the West, except monuments. The populations have been looted. Despite all the talk about democracy and voting, the people have no input into policy,” Roberts said.
“Russia and China have emerged from tyranny. The West is falling into tyranny,” Roberts explained, adding that for Russia and China to be involved with the West is to risk a return to tyranny and “Russians should wash their hopes of being part of a decaying, immoral West, a ‘civilization’ that loots its own.”
According to Roberts, the reason the US Department of State plays dumb, or “cannot confirm,” when asked by the Russian media or Russia’s Foreign Ministry for responses to atrocities committed against Russian journalists and the Russian diplomatic mission in Kiev is that the atrocities are committed by Washington’s stooge government in Kiev on Washington’s orders.
“As Washington’s line is that all the trouble in Ukraine is Russia’s fault, Washington is not prepared to acknowledge any wrongdoing by Kiev,” Roberts said.
“The separatists have been declared ‘terrorists,’ and it is permissible to slaughter ‘terrorists.’ The US government has been slaughtering ‘terrorists’ for 13 years, huge numbers of people in seven countries,” Roberts stated.
“Russia’s ‘European Partners’ did not complain about Washington’s slaughter and dislocation of millions of people, in which Europe, especially the British, participated, so why should Europe complain about the slaughter of Russians in Ukraine?” the former Assistant Secretary of the Treasury concluded.
