Do Palestinians in Gaza have the Right to Defend themselves against Israeli Aggression?

US State Department spokes-bimbo Jen Psaki: “What Israeli aggression?!?

Why are we expected to allow Israel to continually steal more land and oppress, brutalize and murder civilians? Why is Israel allowed to come in and occupy the West Bank and threaten the lives and health and well-being of Palestinians? Why are we expected to allow Israel to continue a siege against Gaza? Why are we expected to stand by while Israel attacks Palestinians? Why is Israel allowed to terrorize innocent civilians in the West Bank and Gaza?
“Settlement activity continues to make the potential peace map more difficult … On this, I should also be clear of the United States’ longstanding position: we consider settlements illegitimate and an impediment to progress on peace negotiations.” – White House Coordinator Philip Gordon
“How will Israel remain democratic and Jewish if it attempts to govern the millions of Palestinian Arabs who live in the West Bank?  How will it have peace if it is unwilling to delineate a border, end the occupations and allow for Palestinian sovereignty, security, and dignity?  How will we prevent other states from isolating Israel or supporting Palestinian efforts in international bodies if Israel is not seen as committed to peace?” – White House Coordinator Philip Gordon http://www.whitehouse.gov/the-press-o…
“Do you believe that the Palestinians in Gaza have the right to defend themselves?
I think — I’m not sure what you’re getting at, Said.
I am asking you: Do they have the right to defend themselves against Israeli aggression?
What are you specifically referring to? Is there a specific event or a specific occurrence?
Do they have the right to respond to Israeli rocketing and bombing their homes, their houses, their areas, their schools?” – Daily Press Briefing, July 8, 2014
“But he didn’t say both sides. He said the current Israeli Government is not committed to peace, and he went on to say —
I’m not going to parse his words —
— and he went on to say —
— but we’ve — let me finish. We’ve consistently said that both sides didn’t make the necessary choices needed to continue the process.
Do —
I think we have one more for you and then we’ve got to move on.
Okay. One more, I promise, yeah. And he also said that Israel continues to deny the Palestinians sovereignty, security, and dignity. Do you agree with that assessment?
I’m not going to parse his words. As you know, there are difficult issues with —
But he —
— let me finish, Said — with strong emotional feelings when it relates to these tough choices that need to be made around the peace process. …
But you agree Mr. Gordon —
I think we need to move on to other questions.
— Mr. Gordon speaks on behalf of the Administration?
Samir, go ahead. ” Daily Press Briefing – July 9, 2014
