Jumbaltt: Stop Talking That Hezbollah’s Syria Involvement Brought Terrorism

Progressive Socialist Party leader, MP Walid Jumblatt voiced support to the Lebanese army against the terrorism threat, urging the Lebanese sides to stop talking that Hezbollah’s involvement in Syria brought terrorism to Lebanon.

In a press conference during a tour in Deir Qoubel and Choueifat, Jumbaltt said that the nation is facing the danger of terrorism from armed militants who are attacking the LAF.

He urged all disputing political factions to rise above their "futile arguments" and focus on what is really important, which is unity in supporting the army and security forces.

Jumblatt saluted the martyrs of the Lebanese army and the people of Ersal, who backed the soldiers in confronting the hostilities.

"I salute all the sacrifices of the security apparatuses and LAF in previous battles that have taken place in Tripoli and Saida," the MP added, according to the National News Agency.

He stressed that the “only option is to support the State, with the LAF at its forefront."

"I aspire for a conclusion to the meaningless political arguments over the presidency, so that we can elect a president and assert the foundations of the state in order for it to perform its duties."

Meanwhile, he voiced pessimism that the future held more difficulties.

"We witness how Syria is being destroyed by the regime and by those who claim to be friends of the Syrian people, Arabs or otherwise."

"The saying that Hezbollah brought terrorism to Lebanon with its involvement in Syria is incorrect. What is needed is dialogue among all factions to safeguard Lebanon from this obscurantist thought which has come from ignorance."

On the other hand, the MP urged cooperation between former PM Saad Hariri, Speaker Nabih Berri, and Hezbollah Secretary General, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah.
