Jewish Lobby against Muslim holidays at Montgomery Public schools

Rehmat

Israeli propagandist, The Washington Times, in a recent article has blamed Muslims parents for Montgomery County Board of Education’s decision on Tuesday to remove Jewish holiday of Rosh Hashanah name from its 2015-16 school calendar while keeping the Yom Kippur holiday name on. Both days are celebrated to please the tiny but powerful Jewish community in the County since 1970s.

In 2015, Yom Kippur is projected to fall on Wednesday September 23, when County’s public schools will be closed for the Christians, Muslims, Hindus and Atheists students to join a dozen fellow Jew students to celebrate their Jewish holiday. Now, here comes the organized Jewry’s problem. On the very same day, County’s 10% Muslim population will be celebrating its Eid al-Adah (one day after the annual Hajj in Makkah, Saudi Arabia), and it could mean the County Board of Education may have recognized a Muslim holiday after all. This year, both Eid al-Adah and Yom Kippur were observed on the same day.

The Muslim parents in Montgomery County have been campaigning for the addition of two Muslim holidays; Eid al-Fitr (end of one-month fasting) and Eid al-Adha on school calendar for over a decade.

Earlier, Zainab Chaudry, CAIR Maryland Outreach Manager and Equality for Eid Coalition, on behalf of the Montgomery County Muslim community, urged the MCPS Superintendent Dr. Joshua P. Starr, a Zionist puppet and board members on the importance of fairness and equality in their decision to recognize religious holidays in public schools. Watch video below.

On November 11, the Board decided to drop Rosh Hashanah name while keeping Yom Kippur and Christmas holidays on the 2015-16 calendar. The Board still refused to recognize Muslim holidays. However, Superintendent Joshua Starr said that schools would still be closed on both days as many staff members have record of being absent on those two days.
Interestingly, Christmas and Easter are the only two days as holidays on the Maryland state calendar.

Montgomery County Jewish Councilman George Leventhal wrote to MCPS Superintendent Joshua Starr and Board of Education President Shirley Brandman on May 23, 2012 urging the school system to “provide two school closing days each school year for American Muslims.” Read more here.
