Debate: Russia’s new strategy in Asia

Russian President Vladimir Putin is visiting India to strengthen bilateral relations in the defense, space, energy and trade sectors. The visit is being viewed as Russia’s strategic plan to ‘turn to the East’ amid increasing tensions with the West over the ongoing crisis in Ukraine.

So as Russia looks to the BRICS nations to counter Western pressures, what does this mean for things to come? Did the West miscalculate and pave the way for greater cooperation between some of the fastest growing economies in the world?

This edition of The Debate interviews Daniel Faraci, Director of Grassroots Political Consulting from Washington, and Ian Williams, with Foreign Policy in Focus from New York, to answer these questions.
