The Iranian Army’s major drill entered its second phase of major military exercises code-named Mohammad Rasoulallah (Mohammad, the Messenger of God) in the country’s south.
In this stage of the maneuvers on Friday, the Iranian Army’s Ground Forces practice striking mock enemy targets by using tank fire supported by Air Force helicopters as well as missiles and artillery units, according to the Press TV.
Naval forces will also engage the mock enemy. The army backed by its F-4 fighter jets will also disrupt the hypothetical enemy’s communications lines.
Also on Friday, Iran test-fired its domestically made anti-tank missile systems Dehlaviyeh and Toofan.
During the first stage of the six-day military drill on Thursday different ground units, fighter jets and air defense systems were stationed in the southeastern part of the country. Various surface and undersurface vessels were also deployed in the Sea of Oman.
The exercises cover an area of 2.2 million square kilometers stretching from the east of the Strait of Hormuz all the way to the 10th parallel north in the north of the Indian Ocean.
