"This aggression confirms Israel directly supports terrorism in Syria, in addition to the known Western and regional countries, raising the morale of terrorist organizations, led by Jabhat al-Nusra, an arm of al-Qaida in the Levant, and ISIS," the head of the Syrian military said.
"The Israeli enemy committed aggression against Syria by targeting two safe areas in Damascus province, in all of Dimas and near the Damascus International Airport," state television said, adding that there were no casualties.
Israel refuses to comment. They do not acknowledge or deny the attack.
"We traditionally do not comment on reports of this kind," a representative of the Israeli Defense Forces told RIA Novosti.Yet? Netanyahu may have hinted at Syrian action right before it took place.
The office of the Israeli Prime Minister has also refused to comment on the issue
Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu appears to have hinted at the reported strike against targets in Syria, several hours before it occurred, in a comment he made at the start of Sunday morning's cabinet meeting, as cameras rolled.
"We are following with great alacrity the goings on in the Middle East,” Netanyahu said – “with alert ears and watchful eyes. And much is going on. We will remain with our finger on the pulse and we will take care of these challenges, which do not take time off."
“We will take care of them with the same responsibility with which we took care of them until now,” he added.Cryptic perhaps, but, it sure seems Netanyahu alluded to a taking of action on the part of Israel
Damascus, SANA – Foreign and Expatriates Ministry on Sunday addressed two identical letters to the UN Secretary General and Chairman of the UN Security Council on the Israeli aggression on the Syrian soil.
The messages read that Israel has committed a heinous crime against the sovereignty of Syria as Israeli warplanes attacked two safe areas in al-Dimas and near Damascus International Airport in Damascus Countryside, causing material damage in a number of institutions there.
The Ministry stressed that the attack is in the framework of extending help and support to the armed terrorist groups in Syria, especially after the series of achievements made by the Syrian army in Deir Ezzor, Aleppo, Daraa and other areas.
The attack also aims at covering up the internal disputes in Israel through diverting the attention away from the collapse of the Israeli coalition government and the extremism of this government, embodied in its continued occupation of the Arab territories and violation of the international legitimacy and law in addition to UN Security Council’s resolutions, according to the Ministry.
The attack reflects the Israeli explicit involvement in supporting the armed terrorist groups in Syria, on top of which Jabhet al-Nusra, along with well-known regional and western countries.
The messages highlighted that such attacks will never dissuade Syria from countering terrorism with all its forms, types and tools on all the Syrian soil, warning against the repercussions of these attacks on the security and peace in the region and the world.
The Syrian government called for imposing deterring sanctions on Israel, which did not hide its policy in supporting terrorism, calling also for taking all procedures, in accordance with the UN Charter, to prevent Israel from repeating such attacks.
In turn, the General Command of the Army and Armed Forces said the Israeli enemy targeted two areas, al-Dimas and outskirts of Damascus International Airport, in Damascus Countryside, causing material damage to a number of institutions there.
The Army Command highlighted that such attacks, which aim at providing support to terrorists, will never dissuade the army from countering terrorism with all its forms, types and tools and on all the Syrian soil.
UNDOF confirms Israel aiding terrorists in Syria
Observers from the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF) confirmed the growing coordination and standing cooperation between the Israeli enemy’s forces and terrorist organizations, documenting more facts confirming this. It's odd that the March date is cited by UNDOF, when it was clear to me, from simply reading the news, that Israel was colluding with the terrorists: I wrote about this topic as early as February 17/ 2013, without the benefit of being on the scene, following up with another post February 20/2013. It really was quite clear Israel was aiding and abetting the terrorists!
A report made by the observers revealed details of ongoing communication between leaders of terrorist organizations in Syria and Israeli army officers and officials, saying that 59 meetings between the terrorist leaders – who are labeled as “opposition” by Syria’s enemies – and Israeli officers took place from March 2013 to May, and that during this same period 89 injured terrorists were transported to Israeli hospitals, and 19 of these terrorists were returned to Syria along with two bodies.
The report said that the relations between the two sides began in March 2013 (read further it's clear it began earlier then that)when the Israeli occupation authorities began treating injured terrorists in their hospitals, in addition to building a field hospital for them in the occupied Golan, with the report adding that observers witnessed several meetings between terrorist leaders and Israeli army forces between December 2013 and March 2014,in addition to witnessing the transportation of injured terrorists to Israeli hospitals following confrontations between the terrorists and the Syrian Arab Army.
