TEHRAN (FNA)
International Zionism continues to prop up the "brave little Israel" facade through continued concealment of the terroristic character of its initial seizure and subsequent expansion of territory, right up to the present time.
In line with this policy, Israel deliberately continues to provoke Arab states by military operations and covert terrorist actions. It also provokes Palestinians by continued desecration of the Al-Aqsa Mosque, as well as raids, arrests and attacks against their property.
According to the Palestinian Prisoner’s Society, at least 400 Palestinians have been arrested across the West Bank and East Al-Quds over the last four weeks alone. The number of settler attacks against Palestinians has also risen in recent weeks.
Some might try to blame the victims and link the tensions to the November 18 attack on a synagogue during which four rabbis and two Palestinians were killed. But they fail to notice the oddly increasing frequency of Israeli raids. They should at least ask why Israel carries out acts of provocation even when there have been no Palestinian attacks?
The personal diary of Moshe Sharett, one of Zionism's chief diplomats before 1948 and Israel's first foreign minister and prime minister from 1953 to 1955, sheds light on this important question. The journal documents the rationale and mechanics of Israel’s "Arab Policy" in the late 1940s and the 1950s:
The policy portrayed is one of deliberate Israeli acts of provocation, intended to generate Arab hostility and thus to create pretexts for war, armed action and territorial expansion. Sharett's records document this policy of "Sacred Terrorism" and expose the myths of Israel's "security needs" and the "Arab threat" that have been treated like self-evident truths since its inception.
It’s a sign that the exceptional demographic and geographic alterations in Israeli society have been brought about, not as the accidental results of the endeavor to guard Israel's security, but by a drive for longer occupation and vicious existence.
No wonder the vigilante groups, determined to keep the West Bank and the Gaza Strip under permanent control, openly advocate the removal of all Arabs from Palestine by any means possible. Although they consider former prime minister Menachem Begin and foreign minister Yitzhak Shamir (members of the terrorist Irgun and Stern gangs) as traitors, the fact remains that they are carrying out the settlement policies on behalf of the usurper regime and its founders.
The usurper regime, in collaboration with security forces and certain Western governments, protects and equips them with legitimacy. By the same token, it ensures Palestinian victims remain defenseless and powerless wherever they are.
The irony is that whenever the UN Security Council or the Human Rights Council decides to act and issue resolutions critical of Israel, international Zionism comes to the rescue. This is obvious at the material level, as measured by flow of Western capital and armaments, joint military operations, and diplomatic support. This special relationship appears at the ideological level as well: Western governments never arrest or prosecute Israeli leaders for committing war crimes in occupied territories.
Even when they acknowledge Israel’s “Sacred Terrorism,” it is almost invariably described as "retaliatory," hence not criminal even if regrettable. The recent Israeli war on Gaza, during which over 10,000 Palestinians were killed and wounded (mostly women and children), is quite typical of a long, ugly and continued history of such atrocities and cover-ups.
