Sputnik — Eastern Ukraine's self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) has confirmed its readiness to withdraw weapons from the line of contact only after Kiev does the same, a deputy commander of DPR militia Eduard Basurin said Monday.
"We will withdraw our units located in the contact line zone only after the Ukrainian Armed Forces pull back their weaponry. The withdrawal of heavy artillery must be carried out together with the Ukrainian side. If Ukraine does not pull back, the DPR will not do so either," Basurin said, adding that the independence supporters have not received any information regarding Kiev's weapons withdrawal yet.
The ceasefire between the warring sides in eastern Ukraine was agreed at the February 12 marathon talks in Minsk between the leaders of Ukraine, France, Germany and Russia. Under the deal, the warring sides must withdraw heavy artillery from the line of contact within two weeks, starting February 17.
Other agreements stipulated in the peace deal brokered by the four leaders in Minsk include a ceasefire between Kiev-led forces and Donbas militia, which became effective on Sunday, all-for-all prisoners swap, and some constitutional changes gran
