Syrian Army Opens New Front in the South, Targets Takfiris in Quneitra

Syrian Arab ArmyThe Syrian army launched on Monday a wide-scale military operation on the southern front of battles against the takfiri groups, mainly on the juncture between Quneitra, Daraa and Damascus countryside provinces.

Military units engaged on Sunday night in fierce clashes on the fronts of Tal Merhi, Danaji and Der Makel on the road between southern Damascus countryside and villages of northern Quneitra, down towards the towns of Der Adas and Kafr Shams in the far north-west of Daraa countryside.

Military sources stated that militants started to withdraw from Tal Merhi, after they were inflicted heavy casualties, including the murder of Omar Al-Masri, commander of the engineering company in Al-Forqan Brigades of the so-called 'Free Syrian Army'.

Syrian opposition websites noted that the army managed to restore towns of Hibbariyya, Tal Merhi, Tayha and Danaji, as the Syrian war jets were carrying out raids over Tal Al-Hara and Al-Hara village.

In Kafr Shams, the army artillery deployed on borders of the eastern town, initiated a sudden attack against the FSA, and killed a number of gunmen, including the military commander of Seif al-Islam Companies that belong to Al-Forqan Brigades.

In Quneitra, a military source told SANA news agency that the army clashed with an armed terrorist group in the area of al-Tayha and killed a number of the group’s members.
If operations go as planned, the Syrian army would strengthen its positions on the southern front, in preparation for other battles in the south of Syria.

Battles in south Syria coincided with intensive Israeli flights, amid information published by the Lebanese Assafir newspaper quoting opposition sources as saying that the Zionists have summoned leaders of the takfiri armed groups operating with them, to meet in the area of Rafid in the disengagement zone, in order to study the response plans and to coordinate intelligence operations.

Meanwhile, Syrian army units on Sunday continued large-scale military operations against the takfiri terrorist organizations across the country, killing large numbers of them.

Also in Daraa, units of the army destroyed a rocket launcher, mortar emplacement and ammunitions, killing several terrorists.

A military source said that a unit of the Army and Armed Forces eliminated during a special military operation many terrorists who were hiding in Qasser Idriss in Jasem town northwest of the city.

In Inkhel city north of the province, an army unit killed many terrorists, injured others and destroyed their equipment.

Meanwhile in Ataman town, units of Army and Armed Forces eliminated a number of terrorists and destroyed a bulldozer, weaponry, vehicles and ammo during a large-scale military operation.

In the area surrounding Qarfa town, a unit of the Army destroyed a rocket launcher, armored vehicle and a vehicle equipped with heavy machine gun, killing many terrorists.

The source also said that a unit of the Army killed many members of terrorist organizations and destroyed some of their vehicles in al-Mseifra town and the area surrounding Khirbet Ghazaleh northeast of Daraa.

In Idlib, an army unit targeted with artillery a terrorists’ vehicle convoy that was passing on the road between Jabal al-Zawieh and Humaimat town in the countryside of the province, a military source told SANA.

The source was quoted as saying that a number of vehicles were destroyed and the rest were damaged, with all the terrorists on board them left killed or wounded.

Terrorist organizations’ dens in Um Jerrin, Tal Salmo and al-Hamidiyeh in Abu al-Duhour area received direct hits at the hands of the army. Many terrorists were killed, others were injured and their weapons were destroyed as a result.

In Jisr al-Shughour area, the source confirmed losses within the terrorist organizations’ ranks in Ein al- Barideh and those in al-Bya’at village, where dens were targeted.

A unit of the army carried out a special operation targeting concentration positions of terrorists in Miyan and al-Kfeir towns near Aleppo-Lattakia highway. A mortar base and two vehicles were destroyed.

Many terrorists were killed and others were left wounded in army operations in Ihsem and Ibbara in Jabal al-Zawieh area and in Kafar Takharim, the most important among the terrorists’ supply and infiltration routes from the Turkish side.

Other operations targeted terrorists moving in Sahl al-Rouj, killing a number of them.

Artillery fire was renewed against terrorists’ dens in Khan Shaikhoun, where a den was destroyed and all terrorists inside it were left killed or wounded.

In Hama, army units continued operations against terrorist organizations in Hama countryside, inflicting heavy losses upon them.

A military source said that units of the army targeted dens of terrorist organizations in al-Qastal al-Janoubi, Hadaj and Rasam Qatisha in Eqerbat town, killing and injuring many of them.

Another army unit cracked down on terrorist organizations’ gatherings in Hamadi Omar on Jabal al-Balaas road, inflicting heavy losses on them.

Terrorists suffered direct losses in Aqrab Town 30km west south of Hama city.

Units of the army carried out operations, targeting terrorist organizations’ gatherings in Kafr Zita and al-Latamneh, killing and injuring many of terrorists.

The source also confirmed the death of a number of terrorists north of Morek town.

In Daraa al-Balad, a unit of Army targeted dens belonging to takfiri terrorist organizations, killing and injuring many of their members and destroying a mortar emplacement in al-Arbaeen Park in the area surrounding Um al-Daraj.

Social media pages of Takfiri terrorist organizations acknowledged the death of tens of their members, among them Amer Maazar, Wassim Sharaf, Qussai al-Jabr, Mohamed Nihad Jadaan al-Ali, Ahmad Shaqir, Khaled Jamal al-Saadi, Salam Mossa al-Mithib and Sadam Hasan Ali al-Balkhi.

In the same context, activists on social media networks confirmed the death of Shihadeh Ibrahim al-Bashir who is the “military leader” of the so called “Saif al-Islam Battalion” in Kafr Shams in Daraa countryside.

The army also targeted terrorists’ hideouts in Tafas and Wadi Jalin in Daraa countryside, killing and injuring scores of terrorists and destroying their weaponry and munitions.

In Deir Ezzor, army units destroyed a number of vehicles equipped with medium machineguns and ISIS terrorists’ hideouts in Hwejat Sakr and al-Bu Omar areas in Deir Ezzor countryside, killing and injuring scores of the terrorists, according to a military source.

In Damascus Countryside, units of the army and armed forces killed a number of terrorists and destroyed several of their vehicles in the surrounding of al-Qalamoun mountains in Damascus Countryside.

SANA reporter said the army targeted terrorists’ concentrations and destroyed two of their vehicles in the areas of Ras al-Maara and al-Mishrfe near the borders with Lebanon. The army also killed and injured about 25 terrorists in al-Mahatta neighborhood in Zabadani city.

In Douma and Harasta, the army intensified operations against terrorist groups and managed to kill and injure large numbers of them and destroy many of their hideouts and concentrations.

Syria was hit by a violent unrest since mid-March 2011, where the western media reports accuse countries, mainly the USA, Turkey and Saudi Arabia of orchestrating the civil conflict in the country and providing terrorist groups with money, weapons and trained mercenaries.

On May 2011, Syrian army launched a wide-scale operation against armed groups and gunmen operating in the country, who started to escape the army blows and infiltrate illegally to Lebanon.
