Turkey transgressed into the Syrian territory and relocated the tomb of Suleyman Shah from the northeastern Raqqa province where it exists in a “suspicious” act that reveals the Turkish government’s close connection with terrorist organizations operating in the area.
An official source at the Foreign and Expatriates Ministry said in a statement to SANA Sunday that Turkey did not await the Syrian consent to move the tomb after the Turkish Foreign Ministry informed Syria’s consulate in Istanbul of its intent to carry out the relocation on the eve of the transgression act.
Turkey did carry out the move without Syria’s consent contrary to procedures usually followed according to the 1921 agreement signed between Turkey and the French occupation authorities back then.
The Foreign Ministry source described the Turkish move, which took place at dawn Sunday, as no less that an act of aggression against Syria, dismissing it as “suspicious” inasmuch as it unmasks the reality of the Turkish intentions and Turkey’s relationship with the terrorist organizations of Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS).
“Turkey went far beyond providing all forms of support to its tools of the gangs of ISIS, Jabhat al-Nusra and other al-Qaeda-linked terrorist organizations to carry out a blatant aggression on the Syrian territory,” the source said in the statement.
The suspicion lies in the fact that this reputed tomb has been all along spared the acts of ISIS, which, on the other hand, has been destroying mosques, churches and tombs in various areas across Syria, according to the statement.
This “confirms the deep connection between the Turkish government and this terrorist organization,” the source added.
It concluded the statement by saying that the Turkish authorities, by breaching the aforementioned agreement, will be responsible for any possible repercussions of this aggression.

Mikdad: Turkish aggression blatant display of belligerence
Damascus, SANA
Deputy Foreign and Expatriates Minister Dr. Fayssal Mikdad issued a blistering condemnation of the new Turkish aggression against the Syrian land, describing it as “a blatant display of belligerence”.
Turkish forces swept into the Syrian territory overnight and relocated the tomb of Suleyman Shah from the northeastern Raqqa province where it existed in a “suspicious” act that reveals the Turkish government’s close connection with terrorist organizations operating in the area.
Speaking by phone to al-Mayadeen TV channel, Mikdad said that the aggression is “a blatant act that pulls the mask off the real face of the Turkish leadership which has been mounting one aggression after another against Syria.”
The aggression is believed to cast a shadow on the “good relations” that once bound the Syrian and Turkish peoples, Mikdad lamented, indicating that it comes at the expense of the Syrian sovereignty and land.
Mikdad noted that the close relation binding the Turkish regime and ISIS terror organization had emboldened the former to launch this “blatant and unacceptable” aggression, vowing that Syria will handle it in the appropriate way and when it sees fit.
“Turkey has to face the consequences,” he added, accusing the Turkish government of falsifying history and twisting facts.
Commenting on a statement made by Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davuloglu, which he said has his hands stained in the Syrians’ blood, Mikdad said that it reflects the Turkish anti-Syria policies, most notably the agreement between the US and Turkish governments whose aim is to prolong the Syrian crisis.
Mikdad cited various examples illustrating Turkey’s close collaboration with terror organizations, including ISIS, making special reference for ISIS smoothly repatriating Turkish diplomats kidnapped when the terror group overtook Mosul, Iraq’s second largest city.
He questioned Turkey’s commitment to fighting terrorism at a time when it maintains contacts with terrorist organizations such as ISIS.
“How is it possible that Turkey can manage to get that number of terrorists and military vehicles inside Syria without cooperation with ISIS?,” Mikdad asked.
He said that Syria would like to bring this new aggression, with all its connotations, to the attention international public opinion, EU and the US administration which is engaged in double-dealing by posing as an anti-terrorism force while at the same time cooperating with the Turkish government which works in cahoots with ISIS.
Mikdad concluded by indicating that Syria is weighing all options for the Turkish government to be held to account.

Baath Party leadership condemns new Turkish intervention in Syria
Damascus, SANA
Not waiting for Syria’s consent, the Turkish authorities transgressed into the Syrian territory at dawn and relocated the reputed tomb of Suleyman Shah from the northeastern Raqqa province where it existed.
The act was regarded by the Foreign Ministry as yet another proof the Turkish government’s close connection with the terrorist organizations operating in the area where the tomb was, including the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) .
The BASP Leadership affirmed in a statement that this new move is a continuation of Turkey’s approach of supporting the terrorist gangs, providing them with shelter, weapons, funds, training and access into Syria across the border.
This Turkish violation against Syria’s sovereignty, the statement added, is a flagrant breach of the international will and relevant resolutions of UN Security Council, as it is an act of aggression against a neighboring country.
The statement denounced the attitudes and practices of the neo-Ottomans, and stressed that they demand a clear condemnation from all powers and peoples that defend peace and the principles of good neighborliness.
