Iraqi security forces, backed by volunteer forces, have launched on Sunday a wide-scale operation against terrorists in Tikrit entering Al-Bou Ajil village and Al-Dor city in the Salahudine province, amid collapse among ISIL Takfiri terrorists’ ranks.
Al-Manar correspondent in Iraq reported that the Iraqi army, popular mobilization forces and resistance factions have totally liberated Al-Dor region in Salahudine province.
In Al-Bou Ajil, the Iraqi forces continued their progress and destroyed a truck driven by a suicide bomber.
The forces pushed into the villages from multiple directions on Sunday with reports suggesting Al-Bou Ajil will likely be completely purged of ISIL in hours.
Iraqi security forces and volunteer fighters struggled to advance on Saturday into the two towns of al-Alam and al-Dor near Tikrit achieving huge progress despite fierce struggling from ISIL militants.
"We are facing a strong resistance from terrorist groups and we are trying to surround Daesh inside al-Alam and al-Dor and cut all supply routes for them," said al-Alam mayor Laith al-Jubouri.
