Iranian President Sheikh Hasan Rouhani reaffirmed that the Islamic Republic will never sign a nuclear deal with the world powers that would allow foreign access to military sites in the country.
Rouhani’s remarks in a Thursday address in East Azarbaijan Province, echoes those of the supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei a day earlier.
The leader stressed that Tehran will never inspection of military sites, noting that the US is making new demands in the talks over Iran’s nuclear program, including demanding access to Iranian nuclear scientists and military facilities.
“The Leader of the Islamic Revolution’s word is rule for the administration; and we will never sign a deal that would allow anybody to have access to the country’s scientific and military secrets,” President Rouhani said.
“Research and development is our red-line, and [nuclear] negotiators are aware of the red-lines,” he stressed, according to Press TV.
Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Marziyeh Afkham also said that no deal will be signed with the P5+1 until all the demands of Iran are met.
“Iran’s viewpoints on all issues have been presented clearly and transparently since the beginning of the talks,” said Afkham earlier on Thursday.
Iran has repeatedly insisted that the nuclear deal must only include nuclear issues.
Iran and the P5+1 group of countries – the US, France, Britain, Russia, China, and Germany - reached a mutual understanding on Tehran’s nuclear program in the Swiss city of Lausanne on April 2. They agreed to finalize a comprehensive deal by the end of June.
