Three huge explosions rocked the city of Aden on Tuesday morning after rocket-propelled grenades were fired at three different locations.
The explosions occured after three rockets were fired, one of which hit the Al-Qasr Hotel in Aden’s western suburbs while the second hit the headquarter housing the UAE force, in Sheikh Saleh bin Farid al-Awlaki house in Al-Buraika, the third hit the headquarters of the UAE military commandment near Bazrah Steel Factory also in Al-Buraika.
Reports said at least 18 people have been killed in the hotel in Aden. There are conflicting reports about the nationalities of the fatalities, with some reports saying that those killed were soldiers from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) guarding the hotel. Other reports say there were only two Emirati soldiers among the dead, and the others were Yemenis.
A number of officials from the former Yemeni regime, including fugitive former Prime Minister Khaled Bahah, were allegedly using the hotel when the attacks occurred.
According to some reports, the former Yemeni officials at the hotel, including Bahah, were evacuated unharmed by helicopter following the attacks.
