During a two-hour meeting with the Russian president Vladimir Putin in Tehran, the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution of Iran Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei asserted that the US attempts to gain in politics what it lost in the battlefield must be frustrated.
"None has the right to overthrow President Assad who was legitimately elected by the Syrian," his eminence added.
Imam Khamenei pointed out that the US support to the terrorist groups forms one of the weaknesses of the American administration, adding that after the nuclear deal, Iran will never hold bilateral talks with the United States on any issue.
For his part, the Russian president asserted that Moscow considers that Tehran is a reliable and reassuring partner in the region.
Putin stressed that Russia is aware of the American attempts to gain in politics what it lost in the battlefield.
On the sidelines of the meeting, Putin gave one of the oldest Quran manuscripts to Ayatollah Khamenei as a gift.
Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in Tehran Monday on his first trip to Iran in eight years to attend the summit meeting of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) today.
Upon arrival at the Mahrabad International Airport, Putin was welcomed by Minister of Communications and Information Technology Mahmoud Vaezi.
