Shock & dismay are words being used widely to describe Britons’ vote to leave the EU. Brexit is now a reality, the ramifications of are already being felt, with jittery world markets, a falling pound, calls for independence for Scotland & Northern Ireland, as well as calls for exit referendums across other EU countries. The Leave campaign was dogged by accusations of xenophobia & racism in how it spoke of immigrants, concerns that will no doubt come to the fore, especially for minorities that make up the UK’s multicultural society. What is unknown is how exactly this will change, if at all, the UK’s foreign policies. In this edition of the debate, we try to decipher the consequences for the UK & world after the Brexit.
