Two Israeli occupation soldiers were killed and three others were injured in the occupied Golan Heights on Sunday.
A grenade in the possession of a driver of a light armored military vehicle went off outside the entrance to a military outpost near Majdal Shams, a Druze village located on the foothills of Mount Hermon, Haaretz and Jerusalem Post reported on Sunday.
Occupation military said it was investigating the incident which is considered highly irregular, according to Israeli media.
One of the two killed is a lone soldier from New Jersey. The other soldier was Sgt. 1st Class. The three wounded soldiers were in light to moderate condition, Haaretz reported.
“A preliminary investigation showed that the driver of the jeep, stopped near at the entrance to the outpost after returning from patrol in the sector. He stepped out of the vehicle holding a grenade, walked to the other side of the vehicle and approached another soldier, who was standing outside the outpost. The two then had an exchange, apparently about the grenade, when it suddenly went off,” the Israeli daily reported.
