FBI Director James Comey has announced that the emails found on Huma Abedin’s laptop have turned up nothing that would warrant bringing charges against Hillary Clinton. It is a complete reversal from his previous announcement and is a development that has made Republicans angry and Democrats jubilant.
On October 28, Comey, in what some media referred to as a “bombshell,” informed Congress he intended to reopen the Clinton investigation on the basis of material found on the laptop of Abedin and her estranged husband, Anthony Weiner–reportedly approximately 650,000 emails.
Obviously nobody was expecting a conclusion of the investigation this soon. Did Comey and his staff manage to read through all 650,00 messages in just 9 days? Worth keeping in mind is that the FBI director took a lot of criticism for his announcement on Oct. 28–from the Clinton campaign, the attorney general, and even Obama.
Maybe it’s time Vladimir Putin revisits the question of whether or not America is a banana republic.
