Despite continued partaking in rather attritional and resource-consuming offensives by the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and its allies in the provinces of Damascus and northern Hama, the pro-government alliance nonetheless also continues to advance against ISIS in the province of Homs.
The latest reports from military sources in northeastern Homs indicate that the SAA, backed to a considerable degree by local fighters of the National Defense Forces (NDF), have liberated from ISIS the villages of Tadmuriyah, Jibab Hamad, Rajm al-Qasr, Rajm Dergham, Rajm A’ali and Rajm Midraji. In addition to this, pro-government forces also captured the hilltops of Al-A’alam and Trix.
The significance of the seizure of the hills of Al-A’alam and Trix gives pro-government forces fire control over ISIS position around Umm Sahrig. Furthermore, this latest advance also represents a large push northeast of the al-Furqlus crossroads, more-or-less in the direction of the Daesh’s east Hama bastion, the existence of which has remained a strategic thorn in the side of pro-government operations around Aleppo, Hama, Raqqah and Homs provinces for two years.
Syrian Army, Hezbollah take control of the entire Syrian-Lebanese border

BEIRUT, LEBANON (5:00 P.M.) – For the first time since 2011, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and Hezbollah are in control of the entire Syrian-Lebanese border.
The Syrian Arab Army and Hezbollah were able to make this declaration after they took control of the Durrat Border-Crossing into Lebanon’s ‘Arsal Municipality.
The Durrat Border-Crossing was the last point under jihadist control before the Madaya-Zabadani deal; once this agreement commenced, Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham agreed to withdraw from the area.
While the jihadists do manage to smuggle weapons and fighters from Lebanon by traveling through the Qalamoun Mountains, the Syrian Arab Army and Hezbollah have ensured that they will have no easy way of doing so in the near future.
