ISIS has Nothing to Do with Sunni Islam it is a US-made Monster!
The ISIS Described by the US Media as a “Sunni Muslim Militia” is “Made in America”. It has Nothing to Do with Sunni Islam
As a lifetime student of classical mainline Islamic jurisprudential school of thought called “Sunni fiqh”, I feel saddened to note how the Western mainstream media succumbed to the Islamophobic propaganda of affixing the epithet “Sunni” to the militia of the so-called Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS).
I can confidently say that ISIS is not Sunni because all that ISIS has done is to contravene the ethical teachings of Sunni Islam.
I consider Sunni Islam as the normative Islam practiced by the disciples of the Prophet Muhammad, who are called Sahabah (model companions) and the righteous caliphs “Al Khalifah Rashidun” (The Rightly Guided Caliphs) who were democratically elected by the whole Islamic Ummah (community). When the Islamophobic Western media equates ISIS barbarity and inhumanity to the normative Islamic term “Sunni” (which literally means followers of orthodox Islam), the Western media is simply serving US Hegemonic interests: by ensuring that neo-colonial and hegemonic forces will continue unabated the rising Islamophobia against Muslims and by effectively maligning Sunni Islam which is the prevalent school of Islamic jurisprudence in the Middle East and the rest of the Muslim world.
I can honestly attest that as per my readings of Shariah principles of the Four Imams of Sunni Islam (Imams Abu Hanifa, Shafi’i, Malik and Ibn Hanbal) who were the eminent jurisprudents of classical Sunni Islam, I have never encountered any of their treatise justifying barbarism and inhumanity that are now being perpetrated by ISIS.
In fact, these Four Imams of classical Sunni Islam through their treatises strongly detest the barbarity of the ISIS militia. Here are six (6) reasons why the entire ISIS war outfit cannot not be considered a ‘Sunni movement” and should never be called “Sunni” militia, and therefore Western mainstream media should not and must not commit Islamophobic name-calling, and must therefore stop referring to ISIS as “Sunni” militia:
1.) ISIS destroyed many holy shrines of Sunni Muslims in Iraq and Syria, including the shrine and mosque of the Prophet Yunus (Jonah) of Ninawa (Nineveh), Iraq and the shrine of Prophet Ayyub (Job) in Oz, Mosul, Iraq; to mention a few. They destroyed holy graves of Sufi-Sunni Muslim saints in and around Mosul and Kirkuk in Iraq and in Damascus, Aleppo and Kobane in Syria.
2.) The Holy Quran declares that Muslims are forbidden to destroy places of worship of all religions; and particularly, the shrines of the Ahl-ul-Kitab (literally, “People with Sacred Scriptures”) i.e., Jews and Christians must be held inviolable and must even be secured by Muslims (Al-Qur-an 22:40-41), and yet ISIS barbarically destroyed Christian churches. Also, Islam in the Holy Quran solemnly declares that there should be no compulsion in religion (Al-Qur’an 2:256), and yet this ISIS militia are forcing Yezidis and Christians to convert or else face death. This is very strange: there is no news that records that Jews were forcibly converted by ISIS and synagogues around Mosul, Aleppo, Kirkuk and in cities of North Iraq were never destroyed by ISIS, even though there are resident Jews and there are a number of synagogues in these areas. This is a strange thing indeed! (See, The Majlis: Council of Ulama in South Africa; p. 8.)
3.) The Shariah Islamiyyah (Divine Law) of classical Sunni Islam are found in the Holy Qur’an and the Holy Qur’an clearly says that civilians and non-combatants’ lives are inviolable: (Al-Qur’an2:256, 5:69). As of this juncture, to quote from the Holy Qur’an is in order: “Allah forbids you to fight those who did not oppress you, nor threw you out of your homes, you ought to show compassion on them and manifest justice upon them. Verily Allah loves those who are just” (60:8). The killing of innocent non-combatants is forbidden in all Sunni rulings concerning defensive warfare. Sayyidina Abu Bakr al-Siddiq, the first Caliph of Sunni Islam penned this ruling to the armies of the Caliphate: “I instruct you in ten matters: Do not kill women, children, the old, or the infirm; do not cut down fruit-bearing trees; do not destroy any town and do not touch those who do not bear arms, do not kill those who surrender and take refuge in the designated places of refuge, all who surrender to you must be safe in your care.” (See Imam Malik’s Muwatta’, “Kitab al-Fatawah-ul-Jihad-e-Abu Bakr Siddiq” [The Book of Abu Bakr Siddiq on the Proper Conduct of Warfare], pp. 37-39.).
4.) As far as my research goes, there are no Sunni scholars (ulama) and legitimate Sunni muftis and fuqaha (Islamic jurists and doctors of Islamic law) among the so-called ISIS Caliphate to clearly establish legitimate fatwas (Shariah rulings) on the legitimacy of their jihad from the Sunni Islamic perspective. There is not even an ustadh (Islamic scholar) of eminence among their ranks! The truth is that eminent Sunni scholars of Iraq and Syria have denounced ISIS for killing over 300 Sunni imams: which effectively belied the ISIS claim that it represents itself as the protector of Sunnis in Iraq and Syria. Many Sunni clerics in Iraq and the Levant declare ISIS combatants as “outside the bounds of Islam and are therefore excommunicated from the Islamic faith” because of their brutality inflicted on non-Muslims and on Sunni Muslims
5.) Using the classical rulings of Sunni Islam on governance as basis of legitimacy, the so-called ISIS Caliphate is illegitimate. Genuine and bonafide Sunni Caliphate is established by the expressed consensus and consent (al-mushshuw’ara al jamaah) of the whole Islamic community by explicit public allegiance (bay-ah) of the whole body of Muslims. ISIS has unilaterally declared their so-called caliph, Al-Baghdadi as Khalifah-ul-Muslimin” (Caliph of all Muslims) clandestinely and covertly, in which the whole Muslim Ummah did not participate in his election, nor choose him to be its caliph, nor give him pledge of allegiance!
6.) ISIS was only able to successfully recruit combatants from Europe to wage war in Iraq and the Levant, but it failed to enlist the grassroot support of Iraqi and Levantine Sunnis. Furthermore, it failed to enlist allegiance of the Sunni Arab and Kurdish clergies who strongly denounced ISIS as outside the pale of the Islamic faith
In fact most of these ISIS militia are Australians, British, Americans, Belgian, French, German, Chechens, who mostly came from Europe, so that most Iraqis and Syrians regard ISIS as an alien power forcing and imposing themselves and their barbarity upon Arab lands with their sophisticated weaponries and ammunition that are mostly sourced from US, Britain and the rest of Europe.
If ISIS is not a Sunni militia, then who are they working for?
Who employed them to wreck havoc in the Middle East?
Why is it that the US government and its NATO allies cannot seriously fight ISIS in Iraq, Syria and the rest of the Levant? ISIS is US-made monster! ISIS Caliphate is never an Islamic Caliphate.
It is a “U.S.-made Caliphate” that does not have any binding authority whatsoever over worldwide Muslims.
It is known truth that CIA constantly backs-up and supports all known so-called jihadist groups from the Taliban of Afghanistan and Pakistan, to even Jemaa Islamiyya and Al-Qaeda in the Middle East, and the Boko Haram of Nigeria.
That is why US will never seriously fight these monsters it created.
US is the invisible director of all international terrorism groups so that these monsters can commit crimes mercilessly and with impunity against humanity. These monsters are made alive and sustained by American dollars and ably, yet subtly directed by the master of the puppetry: US invisible hegemonic hand!
NATO is in unholy partnership with the CIA operators who are currently training, arming, funding and equipping thousands of ISIS combatants from Europe to overthrow secular and socialist Syria as part of the CIA ploy called “Arab Spring”—which is nothing but a covert ideological operation to to conquer the Middle East and Central Asia, its oil reserves, its pipeline corridors as part of an imperial agenda. (On The Trans-Afghan pipeline see Michel Chossudovsky, “America’s War on Terrorism”, chapter 5, pp. 65-91).
Therefore, who is supporting this ISIS militia, who is equipping them, who is funding them so heftily?
For what purpose are they doing these despicable acts? If they are truly Islamic fighters bent on fighting for the rights of Islam and the Muslims, then why do they bomb Sunni Muslim mosques, Sufi Muslim shrines and Shi’ite Muslim prayer halls of their co-religionists?
Is this about establishing a war scenario in the Middle East so that the global weaponry business of the US military industrial complex is at its best and profitable business as usual?
These are relevant questions for our sober reflection.

Moscow inter-Syrian Meetings’ Results form a Basis for Future Talks: Naumkin

Russian moderator Vitaly Naumkin of Moscow inter-Syrian talks said Friday the meetings’ results were positive and could constitute a basis for future meetings.
Addressing a press conference in Moscow, Naumkin was speaking of sessions of deliberations that were held over the past two days between the delegation of the Syrian government and figures of the opposition.
He reiterated that there was unanimous agreement on the “assessing the status quo” item, the first of a list of other items of April 9, 2015 schedule.
He noted that the schedule’s second and third items were also discussed, but was not approved “due to lack of time and problems”.
He hailed the endorsement of Item 1 as “a joint document adopted for the first time” by the two sides, noting however that some of the opposition sides suspended their participation and wanted to impose their own views.
He cited the main points under Item 1, including settling the crisis in Syria politically and on the basis of Geneva Communiqué of June 30, 2012 and demanding serious international pressure on terrorism backers and an immediate lift of all coercive economic measures imposed on Syria.
Naumkin made it clear that the document stresses that national sovereignty and the Syrian people’s will must be the basis for any political process, which can be produced through the agreement of the Syrian government, forces, parties and figures who believe in a political solution.
The only way to carry out a political solution is through a Syrian-led inter-Syrian national dialogue without any foreign intervention, said Naumkin.
He affirmed that the political settlement to the crisis in Syria should see all potentials of the Syrian people employed to face and defeat terrorism where weapons remain in the hands of the state institutions only.

67 YEARS LATER, DEIR YASSIN STILL BLEEDING WOUND FOR PALESTINIANS
April 10, 2015 By FalastinNews Staff
Palestinians on Thursday marked the 67th anniversary of the massacre of more than 100 Palestinian civilians by Zionist Jewish forces at the village of Deir Yassin.
“The Deir Yassin massacre was a turning point in the history of the people of Palestine, and it continues to serve as a necessary reminder of Israel’s ongoing policies of displacement, dispossession and dehumanization, and its willful erasure of the Palestinian narrative and human presence in historical Palestine,” senior PLO official Hanan Ashrawi said in a statement.
Ashrawi noted that the massacre was one of the first in what would become a long line of Israeli military attacks on Palestinian civilians, noting: “Deir Yassin, Nasir al-Din, Haifa, Yazur, Bayt Daras, al-Tantura, al-Lydd, al-Dawayima, Saliha, Qibya, Kafr Qasim, and Shuja’iyya, among other names, will remain forever engraved in our hearts and minds and always serve as symbols of Palestinian steadfastness and perseverance.”
“Peace and justice for Palestine is long overdue, and it is time for the international community to join us as we strive for freedom, dignity and self-determination,” she said.
Deir Yassin has long been a symbol of Israeli violence for Palestinians because of the particularly gruesome nature of the slaughter, which targeted men, women, children, and the elderly in the small village west of Jerusalem. The number of victims is generally believed to be around 107, though figures given at the time reached up to 254.
The attack was part of a broader strategy called Plan Dalet by Zionist groups to scare Palestinians into flight ahead of the expected partition of Palestine into Jewish and Arab states. It was led by the Irgun group, whose head was future prime minister Menachem Begin, with support from the Haganah and Lehi.
In order to ensure only Jews were left in the “Jewish state” — nearly half of whose inhabitants were Palestinians — massacres were committed by these Zionist groups in a number of villages in the hope that the ensuing terror would lead to an Arab exodus.
Thus the attack on Deir Yassin took place a month before Partition took place, and was part of the reasons later given by neighboring Arab states for their intervention in Palestine.
The combination of forced expulsion and flight that the massacres — most prominent among them Deir Yassin — precipitated left around 750,000 Palestinians as refugees abroad. Today their descendants number more than five million, and their right to return to Palestine is a central political demand.
The Palestine Liberation Organization said in a statement released Thursday that the episode “characterizes the atrocities of the Nakba (catastrophe), and highlights the impunity that Israel still enjoys today.”
“As with almost every single crime committed by Israel before and since its inception, the criminals responsible for this horrific and bloody massacre enjoyed full impunity.”
“A few weeks after this tragic event, the man politically responsible for the Haganah (future Israeli Army), David Ben Gurion, became Israel’s first Prime Minister,” the organization said in a statement.
“Even more astonishing is the fact that the head of the ‘operation’ at Deir Yassin, Menachem Begin, and Yitzhak Shamir, the leader of the Lehi who participated in the massacre, would also go on to become Israeli Prime Ministers.”

When a Plane Seat Next to a Woman Is Against Orthodox Faith
CreditBryan Thomas for The New York Times
Francesca Hogi, 40, had settled into her aisle seat for the flight from New York to London when the man assigned to the adjoining window seat arrived and refused to sit down. He said his religion prevented him from sitting beside a woman who was not his wife. Irritated but eager to get underway, she eventually agreed to move.
Laura Heywood, 42, had a similar experience while traveling from San Diego to London via New York. She was in a middle seat — her husband had the aisle — when the man with the window seat in the same row asked if the couple would switch positions. Ms. Heywood, offended by the notion that her sex made her an unacceptable seatmate, refused.
“I wasn’t rude, but I found the reason to be sexist, so I was direct,” she said.
A growing number of airline passengers, particularly on trips between the United States and Israel, are now sharing stories of conflicts between ultra-Orthodox Jewish men trying to follow their faith and women just hoping to sit down. Several flights from New York to Israel over the last year have been delayed or disrupted over the issue, and with social media spreading outrage and debate, the disputes have spawned a protest initiative, an online petitionand a spoof safety video from a Jewish magazine suggesting a full-body safety vest (“Yes, it’s kosher!”) to protect ultra-Orthodox men from women seated next to them on airplanes.
Some passengers say they have found the seat-change requests simply surprising or confusing. But in many cases, the issue has exposed and amplified tensions between different strains of Judaism.
Jeremy Newberger, 41, a documentary filmmaker who witnessed such an episode on a Delta flight from New York to Israel, was among several Jewish passengers who were offended.
“I grew up Conservative, and I’m sympathetic to Orthodox Jews,” he said. “But this Hasid came on, looking very uncomfortable, and wouldn’t even talk to the woman, and there was five to eight minutes of ‘What’s going to happen?’ before the woman acquiesced and said, ‘I’ll move.’ It felt like he was being a yutz,” Mr. Newberger added, using a Yiddish word for fool.
Representatives of the ultra-Orthodox insist that the behavior is anomalous and rare.
“I think that the phenomenon is nowhere near as prevalent as some media reports have made it seem,” said Rabbi Avi Shafran, director of public affairs at Agudath Israel of America, which represents ultra-Orthodox Jews. Rabbi Shafran noted that despite religious laws that prohibit physical contact between Jewish men and women who are not their wives, many ultra-Orthodox men follow the guidance of an eminent Orthodox scholar, Rabbi Moshe Feinstein, who counseled that it was acceptable for a Jewish man to sit next to a woman on a subway or bus so long as there was no intention to seek sexual pleasure from any incidental contact.
“The haredi men I know,” Rabbi Shafran said, using the Hebrew word for the ultra-Orthodox, “have no objection to sitting next to a woman on any flight.”
But multiple travelers, scholars and the airlines themselves say the phenomenon is real. The number of episodes appears to be increasing as ultra-Orthodox communities grow in number and confidence, but also as other passengers, for reasons of comfort as well as politics, push back.
“It’s very common,” said Rabbi Yehudah Mirsky, an associate professor of Judaic studies at Brandeis University. “Multiculturalism creates a moral language where a group can say, ‘You have to respect my values.’ ”
Anat Hoffman, the executive director of the Israel Religious Action Center, which has started a campaign urging women not to give up their seats, said, “I have a hundred stories.”
And Rabbi Ysoscher Katz, a Modern Orthodox Talmud scholar who grew up in the ultra-Orthodox Satmar sect, said, “When I was still part of that community, and on the more conservative side, I would make every effort I could not to sit next to a woman on the plane, because of a fear that you might touch a woman by accident.”
Airlines, and flight attendants, are often caught in the middle. Morgan Durrant, a Delta Air Lines spokesman, acknowledged the phenomenon, saying: “This is a dynamic of some customers who utilize our service. We’re aware of it, and we do what we can to get ahead of it prior to boarding.”
Other airlines had little to say about the situation, other than to agree that a variety of passengers make a variety of requests when traveling, and that carriers try to accommodate them.

Pakistan Parliament Rejects Saudi Call to Join Coalition against Yemen
Local Editor
Pakistan's parliament on Friday urged the government to stay out of the conflict in Yemen, rejecting Saudi demands for Islamabad to join its coalition against the Arab world’s poorest country.
A unanimous resolution passed by a special session of parliament said Pakistan should play a mediating role and not get involved in fighting -- turning down longstanding ally Riyadh's request for troops, ships and warplanes.
"Parliament of Pakistan... underscores the need for continued efforts by the government of Pakistan to find a peaceful resolution of the crisis," the resolution said.
"(Parliament) desires that Pakistan should maintain neutrality in the Yemen conflict so as to be able to play a proactive diplomatic role to end the crisis."
The motion came after five days of debate on the Yemen crisis, in which the majority of lawmakers urged Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif not to send Pakistani forces to join the fight.
Pakistan has pushed diplomatic efforts in the past week, holding talks with Turkish and Iranian officials to try to forge a way ahead.
Friday's resolution urged the government to begin work in the UN Security Council and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation bloc to bring about a ceasefire.

LATAKIA: To attack Idlib with the 10,000+ force Nusra/Alqaeda deployed, they had to pull hundreds of rats from the front in North Latakia, Hama and various parts of Idlib, not to mention Turkey’s Hatay Province. This left Latakia’s north relatively unmolested. The situation was ideally suited for a courageous thrust by the SAA up to several strategic high points such as Pinnacles 767 and 803 where they are now in complete control. A skeletal force of syphilis-ridden hyenas was left behind to reap the wrath of our soldiers. All 39 rodent-vermin were killed. All were foreigners from Turkey, Chechnya and some Arab countries. I will have their names in a few days.
Ghammaam: An assault by Nusra/Alqaeda at 2 military strongpoints were repulsed by the SAA at Kafrayyaa and Watiyy Al-Khaan.
Fighting reported here: Al-Kabeer Village, Al-Rubay’ah, Al-Furunluq Tree Reservation, Bayt Ibliq

Imam Khamenei on Yemen War: Saudi Will Definitely Get Hurt, Eat Crow
Local Editor | ||||
The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution in Iran stressed that the Saudi Arabia will lose and get hurt in its military aggression on Yemen. Meanwhile, his eminence noted that the framework agreed between the world powers and Iran over Tehran’s nuclear program does not guarantee a deal between the two sides. “Nothing has been finalized in nuclear talks with six world powers, there is still nothing to approve or disapprove,” Imam Khamaenei said in a televised speech. The framework reached doesn't guarantee a deal and the negotiations are not halted, his eminence arguing that the joint statement reached between the two sides “is not legally binding.” The Iranian supreme leader said he did not get into details of the nuclear talks, but he just put the guidelines and redlines that the Iranian negotiating team should abide by. Meanwhile, Imam Khamenei assured that Tehran “won’t accept at any pretext” that others enter the Iranian military facilities, referring to a report by the Guardian in which it allegedly reported that Tehran has granted access to its military facilities under the recent framework agreement with the world powers. “Saudi Committed Mistake” On the Saudi aggression on Yemen, the Leader lashed out at Riyadh, stressing that the attack “mounts to crime and genocide against the Yemeni people.” “Saudi committed mistake when it attacked Yemen,” Imam Khamenei said. “Saudi will absolutely lose in the military operation against Yemen. It will definitely get hurt and eat crow.” The Supreme Leader compared the Saudi attack on Yemen to the Zionist crimes committed against Palestinians in Gaza. “The Zionists are more powerful than the Saudis. However they could not accomplish their goals in their military operation against Gaza (last summer),” Imam Khamenei said noting that Gaza “is a small region while Yemen is a big country and there are millions of Yemeni people there.” | ||||

Hassan Nasrallah: so-called ‘Islamic State’ is Wahhabi, every Muslim must fight it
April 08, 2015
Transcript :
[…]
To face [the Islamic State], a solely security or military ‘cure’ is not enough and whoever believes that this is the answer is deluded. This issue is far too profound to be resolved only by security or military measures.
Still others claim that these movements are developing in impoverished environments, and the solution is therefore (economic) development. Such development is necessary anyway, but many of them (the Islamic State) do not come from poorer areas. Many of them come from Europe and have a comfortable financial situation and live well, even in luxury, etc. These diagnostics are simplistic.
Allow me to say the following: anyone seeking political, economic or social explanations (for the existence of the Islamic State) is mistaken. These can only be secondary contributing factors – conditions, pretexts, the environment. But the real and fundamental reason is this dogmatic, ideological and cultural reason, that in the Islamic world emerged people who came to say to thousands of young people, tens of thousands of young people or families: “Your responsibility is to cleanse the Earth of disbelief, to cleanse the Earth of polytheism and all infidels; and you see all the peoples of this region (the Middle East)? Their leaders, their governments, their armies, their communities, all are polytheists, and you have a duty to fight and kill them, and do this, and this, and that, etc.”
They assure these groups that it is their religious obligation. They (members of the Islamic State) believe they are thus closer to Allah and that they fight in His way, they are convinced of it. That is the real tragedy.
Allow me, since I said that our responsibility is to put things frankly, because we all… – but of course I do not want to make it a habit of it my discourse, but I have to spell it out at least this once without wanting to provoke anyone, but just for now – we have the duty to state the truth as it is, that what we talk about, and which we all whisper the name of, which we are talking generally of, calling it the takfiri current…
The background of this reasoning is the Wahhabi reasoning. Wahhabism. These people are not followers (of the Prophet) Muhammad b. Abdullah, peace and blessings of God be upon him and his family. These people are the supporters of Sheikh Muhammad b. Abd-al-Wahhab (founder of Wahhabism allied with the House of Saud). This Wahhabi current, which I explained that people have worked to spread, propagate and support all over the world, he is what it is all about.
Today, when you consider Al Qaeda Daech (the Islamic State) or the Al-Nosra, (Front) which books is it that they study? Which books do they teach from? They are the books of Shaykh Muhammad b. Abd-al-Wahhab, his descendants and scholars and sheikhs of his school as well as muftis who came after him [Ibn Taymiyya, etc.]. That’s what they teach, this culture, this thought, this path, and this is where the danger lies. Anyone looking for a true, real, and effective cure to what we suffer as Muslims, Christians, and all people of this region who have these challenges, must consider the problem so as to see how to find a solution.
Well, the fight (against the Islamic State) must be primarily and foremost a struggle that is ideological, cultural, and intellectual. What are then our responsibilities in this regard? I will very briefly recall them.
First of all, we must defend Islam. This is of course primarily (but not exclusively) the responsibility of scholars: Shiite scholars, Sunni scholars, all the scholars of Islam because so that I may be clear again, we do not have the right to say that the members of this current (the Islamic State) are Sunni, that would be unfair and inaccurate. They claim to be Sunnis, but they consider that the Sunni world today (perhaps one billion of them) are not Sunnis. They consider them (with contempt) as Sufis, as ach’aris (majority branch of Sunni Islam), etc. Consequently, the responsibility of scholars of Islam, Sunni and Shiites, the responsibility of every educated person, every professor, every teacher, each young man or young woman – because we do not have a body of religious men, no anyone who has an Islamic culture, an understanding of Islam, knowledge of Islam must, whether on TV channels, in newspapers, on websites, with all our capabilities and around the world, we need to do our best for our voice to be the strongest because their voice (that of the Islamic State) is strong. Their voice is very strong, and the media resources available to them are considerable. It is necessary that our voice is strong and carries far (and proclaims):
“O people, O Muslims and non-Muslims, O all people of the world! What you see here, this is not Islam! This has absolutely no connection, no links at all with Islam! This is not what the Quran teaches, it is not what it calls for. This is not the religion (of Prophet) Muhammad b. Abdullah, peace and blessings of God be upon him and his family.”
This voice should be raised. [Audience: Salutations on the Prophet and his family.]
Firstly for the principle, but then we must also clarify, explain. It is not enough to hold a general discourse. We must show that these Quranic verses which they cite to justify their acts are falsely used, that it is not their true meaning. But of course, they have a method of interpretation and inference of their own. I do not have time to develop this point now, maybe I’ll do so on another occasion. These prophetic traditions they cite and attribute to the Messenger of Allah are fabricated and falsified traditions. Muslims do not accept them, the scholars of Islam do not recognize them (as authentic). One can easily demonstrate these things.
Our first duty is therefore to defend Islam.
Our second duty is to explain the reality of Islam in the world. This is not an issue of school against school. By God, this is not due to the fact that there is a Shiite Islam side, a Sunni Islam side or whatever other school, no! This Islam on which we unanimously agree, we who are all members of various Islamic schools, we the overwhelming majority of Muslims, we must present it to the world.
Our third duty, which is of paramount importance, is to have exemplary behavior. They exhibit a kind of Islam that is barbaric, macabre, terrifying, inflammatory, and distorted. Well, the rest of Muslims, whether Shiite, Sunni, etc. (have a duty to respond). Today, it is the responsibility of individual Muslims, wherever they are, in Lebanon, in the Arab world, Europe, Africa, North America or Latin America, wherever they are, it is their responsibility as individuals, families, communities, groups, parties or movements, personalities and common people, whoever they are. Yes, right now, the responsibility to present, through behaviour, through (the application of this prophetic tradition) “Call people to Islam with something other than your language.” (= By the example of your actions). Through (the application of tradition) “Be an ornament for your Prophet Muhammad (by your example), and do not be a stain for your Prophet (by your vices)”, may peace and blessings of God be upon him and his family.
Today, it is a major responsibility. So that people can say, “No, Islam is not that (the Islamic State), it is this (everyday Muslims)”. We need the Muslims, the Muslim masses, the Muslim peoples in their countries and with non-Muslims around the world, to embody the normal pattern of the Muslim man who is sincere, who restores the deposits entrusted to him, who considers lying a sin, theft and plunder as a sin, the killing of any human soul, which God has forbidden, to be a sin, one who does not commit crimes, who does not betray, who does not deceive, one who does not attack others, etc., etc., etc. One who opens to others, because our religion is the religion of dialogue, our Prophet is the Prophet of dialogue, our Qur’an is a Book of dialogue, one who has dialogue with the other, who is ready to take from them and give to them, to seek with them the truth and error, etc. Whoever behaves with others with righteousness, justice and goodness, which is also the content of Quranic verses which call us to this.
Today, presenting a different model (to that of the Islamic State) is a major responsibility, and more important now than ever. On any given day, I behave well (quite simply) because it is my responsibility is to behave well. But today, my responsibility is tenfold: I have to behave well and set a good example in terms of religion, the Quran and the Prophet which I hold to because there is a danger of distortion of that religion, of the Quran and the Prophet. Our responsibility is increased tenfold.
Fourth, yes, we must confront this movement, and this requires cooperation from governments, states, scholars, and organizations of all Muslims to prevent against it, to hinder its spread. And again, we must be honest: today, the country that bears the greatest responsibility in the Islamic world, to stop the spread of this thinking is the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which has already suffered in the distant and recent past, and which still suffers, regardless of any other political characterization. Yes, she also bore responsibility for that.
It is not enough that we – or rather they, because we were not involved and we do not participate – create an international alliance against the armies of the world come to fight ISIS. Above all, stop – and I am here to address everyone –, close the schools that train the followers of this daechiste thought. Stop and close the doors of takfir (apostasy charge) and judgment declaring people to be infidels for the most trivial of reasons. Launch an appeal to the current Wahhabi scholars so that they reconsider their principles and agree to dialogue with the rest of the Muslim scholars, Sunni and Shia, about those beliefs that they are working to promote and disseminate in the world.
And also in the confrontation of those who took up arms in any Arab and/or Muslim country, we call for not rushing to (war) – except when the battle has already started, which is another question – but as long as the confrontation did not start, it takes effort on the level of thought, dialogue, culture, we must try to hold discussions with these people (the Wahhabis) especially scholars, people with knowledge, insight, enlightenment, as many of them (the Wahhabis) have misconceptions. They have a false understanding (of Islam), a false doctrine. The basis of confrontation with the young members of this movement must be to open their eyes, not to close them definitely (eliminate them). Some immediately say that governments, regimes, armies and states must form alliances to eradicate the followers of this movement… No! We must first think to wake these people, to open their eyes and to lend a helping hand. We must talk to them, and some scholars may have an influence on them.
And of course, here, the responsibility of the scholars of our Sunni brothers is much greater than that of Shiite scholars. Because regarding the Shiite scholars, regardless of whoever comes their way, his fate is certain (because they consider him an apostate deserving death). But maybe they will accept to listen to Sunni scholars. A great responsibility rests on the Sunni scholars, that of having dialogue with them.
And let no one say that it is useless, that there is no chance, no hope, no result to wait for. Why would that be? We can find a similar experience in History.Today, if someone wants to make a connection, they can compare this problem (the takfiri movement and what is happening) with the historical precedent of the Kharijites, at the time of the Commander of the Faithful, Ali b. Abi Talib, peace be upon him. All Muslims consider him the rightful caliph: Sunnis consider him the fourth rightly guided caliph, and Shiites consider him the (first) Imam of Muslims in their way. But there is no debate about the fact that he is the rightful Caliph, despite differences regarding the principles of legitimate caliphate. Well, people took up arms against him, and he was called the Kharijites (= those who came out of allegiance) and the Commander of the Faithful, peace be upon him, went out to them to fight , along with the rest of the Companions of the Muhajirin (emigrants from Makkah) and the Ansar (Medina) and their children. The Kharijites were 12,000, and some of them had committed crimes. And from the first day, the Commander of the Faithful asked to surrender the criminals, but they refused. Despite all this, he had not decided that these 12,000 people must be eradicated. He said to his companion: “Come, O Abdullah b. Abbas. You have recognized status, a great science, etc. (And you can maybe convince them).” Adballah b.Abbas approached, he made a speech (to the Kharijites), he spoke, argued the evidence, had a diolouge with them, discussed, debated… Thanks to the efforts of Abdullah b. Abbas, 4000 men returned, they were withdrawn from the Kharijite army that originally had 12,000 men (there were only then 8000 remaining). Well, after that, no one moved. Imam ‘Ali himself, peace be upon him, then approached, he discoursed, urged, spoke, advanced evidence, recalled, debated, etc., and the result was that 4000 men withdrew (from the ranks of the Kharijites). From 8000, so 4000 were left, but that’s it, they no longer had any disposition to listen or to talk with anyone. “We do not want to know anything.” They closed the door (on discussions). It was then that the war took place. So it was the battle of Nahrawan, which was very violent for them.
Therefore, it is not right, in the confrontation of this movement, that what comes to first in the thoughts of our leaders in the Arab and Islamic world is security, military, disposal, combat, etc. No! There is a responsibility, a real legal, religious, moral and humanitarian responsibility to ensure that there are sincere efforts – of ideology, culture, doctrine, faith, media, dialogue, etc., to open the eyes of these people. Such is our religion. Our religion does not seek death but deliverance. It seeks to open the eyes of people here and to open their eyes in the afterlife.
And even, on the contrary, many of these people are to be pitied. They lost their lives here on earth, and they will have the unpleasant surprise to discover that they also lost the afterlife. “Those whose efforts in this life were being made in vain, and yet believed they were acting well.” (Qur’an, XVIII, 104). And that’s why these people are complaining, they are miserable orphans, more so than the orphans. And the great responsibility is to open their eyes.
Therefore, facing this dangerous and major challenge if we want to defend our Islam and our community, and to remove this danger, our effort should be primarily in the order of knowledge, thought, culture.
First, we must protect all other Muslims – we must act on two levels: the first duty is to protect the rest of the Muslims from this destructive thought, immune them against it, and that’s where scholars, intellectuals, politicians, parties, men, women, fathers, mothers, media, etc come in.
And the second duty is to act in order to open the eyes of all who can be awakened among the followers of this takfirie Kharijite lethal thought in which there is the loss of this world and the loss of the afterlife and after that, we must act according to circumstances.
Today, yes, our religion and our community face this challenge, and our duty is to take this clear Husseinite position (of Imam Hussein b. Ali, a martyr). Wherever the situation requires that we speak the truth, we will stand in the middle of the battlefield, and proclaim the truth, calling things by their name. And when the situation demands of us that we may sacrifice our blood and release our loved ones and our dearest beings, in defence of our Islam, our community and our people, as did the Imam Hussein in Karbala, we will do the same, we have done and continue to do God willing.
Peace be upon you O my Master and Commander, O Aba ‘Abdillah al Hussein, O son (descendant) of the Prophet, as well as the souls that fell at your side. Receive from me perpetual salvation and peace, as long as I live, as long as day and night last. God does not make this visit (the distant greetings) the last I’ll make for you. Peace be on Hussein on Ali’s son Hussein, the (other) children Hussein and the companions of Hussein. May God reward you all (for godliness in these sacred days). May the Peace of God be upon you and His mercy and His blessings. [Audience: At Thy service, O Nasrallah!]
