A few months ago Mike Freer Conservative M.P. for Finchley and Golders Green, a man in my opinion who is very deserving of the title “Shabbos Goy”, came to
Finchley Masjid. Some Muslims objected to this beforehand, however, the Management Committee of the masjid refused to consider the wishes of the Muslims instead insisting that those with a grievance should come and confront Mike Freer directly and not the committee, the result of this confrontation, according to “Mad Mel” made Finchley a “
no go area” for non-Muslims. Since Finchley is a beacon of Jewish/Muslim co existance and tolerance this must surely be hysteria on a grand scale and also totally false. Because of his rabidly pro-Israel stance and specifically his actions against Sheik Raed Salah he was not a welcome figure to those Muslims who stand for Truth Justice and Peace.
So let us see exactly what Mike Freer is all about.

Mike Freer stood in the House of Commons and said the following
MP Mike Freer asked Home Secretary Theresa May about the case in the Commons on Monday, accusing Sheikh Salah of having a “history of virulent antisemitism“.
As we now know this is a false accusation since Sheik Raed Salah has been completely cleared of all of the accusations made against him – not only that but the judge said that the Home Secretary was misled by C.S.T. – read all about it

Mike Freer has been called “a friend” on the
C.S.T. website From the outset, however, it would not have been possible without support from John Mann and the Parliamentary Committee Against Antisemitism. Other MPs from all political parties have also made invaluable contributions, both of moral encouragement and practical input. In particular, Mike Freer and Matthew Offord provided outstanding support whilst they were still Barnet councillors, and then after their election to Parliament.
Mike Freer has also suggested in the House of Commons that the
goods into Gaza should perhaps be increased – he does not specify how many calories per day they should be increased to, although according to
this analysis the citizens of Gaza get more than they would have in Auschwitz. Anyway, here is his statement:
Mike Freer: Will my hon. Friend update the House on what steps have been taken, and what more can be done, to increase the flow of goods into the Palestinian territories?
Absolutely no reference there to the issue of free movement or the ability to trade with the outside world or rebuild their bombed homes, or goods outward -so caring of Mike Freer. Keep the Gazans on a diet and in prison Mike!

I am grateful to my hon. Friend for obtaining this important debate. It is important that we have balanced debate on the peace talks. Does he agree that a strong Prime Minister goes into negotiations defending the national interest with clear red lines and that that is the secret to good negotiation? Asking one side to give up all its bargaining chips, such as settlements, in advance of negotiations, is clearly nonsense.
Mike Freer came to Finchley masjid a few months ago and went to the media with some wild accusations of being called a “
Jewish Homosexual Pig“, Mike Freer is not Jewish, but then no one who was present except him heard it, although there was one man there who got upset and shouted “where is the Jew” he was restrained by his friends. Mike Freer is openly gay according to his profile on
Wikipedia but these were not the issues that people were concerned about, it is his political leanings that really are so pro-Israel and anti-Muslim to such a degree that he recently attempted to convince the
House of Commons that Netanyahu is demonised and promoted Israel as a “beacon of democracy”
Mike Freer:My hon. Friend makes a good point. Prime Minister Netanyahu is often demonised. I have no doubt that he can be a forceful and difficult character, but would people not want their Prime Minister to be forceful and to stand up for their security when their country was in an almost permanent state of war and they were fielding suicide bombers and missiles fired into their territory?
The hon. Member for Barrow and Furness made the good point that we have to remember that Israel is a beacon of democracy in a part of the world where democracy is in short supply. Religious minorities of whatever shape or flavour have freedoms. Minorities have freedoms, to pursue their religion or their sexuality, and even to stand for Parliament. It does not really matter what shape, colour or religion someone is; they have the ability to follow their beliefs, and that is not seen elsewhere.
Regular deLiberation readers and commentators will have got the measure of exactly where Mike Freer M.P. stands now, we can perhaps assume that he receives his orders from Tel Aviv. I just need to clarify how I can call him a “
shabbos goy“, my understanding is that to qualify for this label you have serve Jews for a financial gain or reward. A quick look at “

So having given an outline of Mike Freer M.P. and his activities, the real question is why would the Management Committee of North Finchley Mosque allow such a man to set foot inside? Some of the people in the community emailed their concerns about Mike Freer before his last appearance in the masjid but they were met with very evasive tactics by the Committee. In fact the Committee were willing to conceal the fact that no-one was in the slightest bit interested in giving Mike Freer the chance to say he has “excellent relations with the Muslim community in Finchley and especially the mosque management committee”. The committee tried to say no one other than myself had contacted them to express their concerns, which is an absolute lie.
Mike Freer clearly has a lot to gain by being able to say he provides an “advice clinic” for local Muslims in Finchley masjid. Ironically, his office is just around the corner – easy to find for any Muslim with a problem (as long as it is local and not about foreign policy)! But quite who and what the Management Committee are gaining, remains unclear. One suggestion is that one member of the Management Committee is looking to pursue a position as a councillor. It is always sad and disheartening to see Muslims put morals aside and to welcome those to the masjid who support the leaders of the occupation, oppression and ethnic cleansing of our brothers and sisters in Palestine. The committee believe that if they are nice to Mike Freer he may become a Muslim. I would suggest they go and talk to him about Islam in his office (the numbers and address are on his website so they can make an appointment), Mike Freer can hardly refuse some heavy proselytizing when the Committee have put out the welcome-mat for him so often – and don’t forget to take some curry our local
Tableegh Jamaat group firmly believe in the power of curry to persuade those who are astray from the right path!
