Why Trump’s Presidency Is a Win for Europe
FINIAN CUNNINGHAM | 12.11.2016 |
By vowing to rebuild American society, scale back foreign militarism, de-escalate NATO and seek friendly cooperative relations with Russia, a United States of America under Donald Trump would not only be a boon for America’s best interests. It would also be a win for Europe.
In such a new international outlook, the European bloc would be freed from its atlanticist subservience which has been dominant and deleterious for several decades. European governments would be freer to have more independent foreign policy, instead of toeing the dubious line that up to now has been ordained from Washington. It has been a disaster for the EU to have adhered so slavishly to US foreign policy. Much of the current discontent and disaffection among EU citizens towards the Brussels-based bloc stems from this unnatural and unhealthy subservience to Washington.
Wars in the Middle East, North Africa and Central Asia and the attendant problems of blowback terrorism and influx of refugees are direct results of European governments following Washington’s foreign policy of regime change and so-called «democracy promotion». Even though these wars have been illegal and vile transgressions of international law.
Financial and economic policies adopted by European governments have been straitjacketed by neoliberal capitalist doctrine dictated by Wall Street and successive US governments. This boils down to misery and austerity for the masses, while a tiny oligarchy become ever bloated with wealth. In short, stagnation.
Deteriorating relations with Russia – Europe’s biggest energy supplier – have also stemmed from the EU following Washington’s confrontational agenda towards Moscow. European governments have bought into the spurious US official narrative of Russia being «aggressive» and «expansionist». Admittedly, certain EU members such as the Baltic states are all too willingly Russophobic. But for many others, such hostility between the EU and Russia does not make sense. While economic impacts on the US have been minimal, the tensions between the EU and Russia have badly hit European businesses, exporters, farmers and workers.
The looming threat of war on European territory from the irrational enlargement of the US-led NATO military alliance along Russia’s border is also seen by many citizens as another demonstration of the EU’s reckless subservience to Washington. It is Washington, of course, that has been the main advocate of increasing NATO forces in Europe, augmented by atlanticist EU governments like Britain, Germany and France, as well as the anti-Russian paranoid Baltic states. Some 500 million EU citizens are held ransom to war policies by a coterie of governments who behave like vassals to Washington.
In many ways, the political, economic and cultural problems challenging Europe arise directly from the EU’s lack of independence from the US. Often it seems that Brussels is acting as a rubber-stamp for foreign policies authored in Washington. No wonder then that in the view of many EU citizens the functioning of the bloc is seen to be undemocratic and unrepresentative of their immediate needs. This explains the soaring rise of anti-EU parties right across the bloc. The phenomenon has less to do with an inherent popular affinity for parties labelled «far right» or «xenophobic» and more to do with a popular desire for democratic governance that attends to urgent social interests.
There is much overlap with the political rise of Donald Trump in the US. As in Europe, the mass of ordinary working-class American citizens have been disenfranchised, politically and economically, over several decades. A rarefied political class has become ossified and is seen to be self-enriching and servile to a tiny wealthy elite of financiers, corporations and the military machine that underpins this oligarchy. Integral to the oligarchy are the corporate-controlled media monopolies that pontificate to the masses on how they should vote in elections – elections that have become inconsequential to democratic needs.
All that now appears to be changing. A revolt is underway.
Trump’s election, like the Brexit before in Britain earlier this year, is a popular revolt against the oligarchy. The mass of people have become sickened and wearied by endless wars and endless economic austerity, while the rich elite become ever more obscenely wealthy, and all the while the media propaganda system cynically instructs the people who to vote for and who not to, knowing full well there will really be no «hope and change».
This time around though, the US election, like the Brexit, was infused with righteous, raw popular anger against the oligarchy.
Trump struck a deep popular chord when he called US-led wars in the Middle East a «disservice to our country and a disservice to humanity». People got it when he lamented how much American infrastructure, schools, hospitals, roads, jobs, would have benefited if the trillions of dollars wasted on wars had instead been invested at home. Despite media concealment, a large section of the American people concurred with Trump’s angry denunciation of Obama and past US administrations for criminally stoking terrorism and conflicts. His presidential rival Hillary Clinton was fixed right at the center of this culpability among the Washington oligarchy, which straddles both the Republican and Democrat parties.
Voting Trump into the White House – a property tycoon who has never held an elected office before – is an historic repudiation of the political establishment. It is a political earthquake.
On the eve of election day on November 8, Trump’s declared that «this will be our independence day… when the American working class will strike back». It may seem incongruous that a billionaire capitalist should exhort the working class to strike. But strike they did.
Trump also said his election would be «Brexit plus, plus, plus». That remark has turned out to be prescient too. The American election earthquake has rocked Europe with greater force than did Britain’s vote to quit the bloc in July. A crevice has been torn open between atlanticist governments and more independently minded ones.
Germany and France in particular have been caught off-side. Chancellor Angela Merkel expressed «shock» at Trump being elected, while French President Francois Hollande – also disapproving the result – called for «united European values» to confront the new American president. Hollande’s bravado for «liberal values» makes him look even more fatuous.
Britain, the other atlanticist voice in Europe, was more congratulatory to President-elect Trump. No doubt, that’s because Britain is seeking to shore up badly needed bilateral trade deals with the US in light of its departure from the EU and therefore it needs to keep Trump sweet.
What really alarms Germany and France is that Trump is no atlanticist or NATO advocate. His nationalist views and tougher stance on immigration controls resonate with EU members like Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia, Greece and Austria.
Trump’s views also give a boost to anti-EU parties in Germany and France who are challenging incumbents Merkel and Hollande in elections next year. It was telling that while Merkel and Hollande deprecated Trump’s election, he was heartily congratulated by the anti-EU Alternative for Germany and Marine Le Pen’s National Front in France, as well as Nigel Farage’s UK Independence Party in Britain. These parties also tend to share Trump’s more sanguine view of friendlier relations with Russia.
If Donald Trump can deliver on his avowed program of rebuilding American society and economy from within while abandoning US imperialist hegemony around the world that will potentially transform world relations. For Russia and China it will lead to a much needed normalization of relations, away from the current Cold War-type hostility that threatens to ignite world war. Both Russian and Chinese leaders Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping were quick to express congratulations and readiness to work with new president Donald Trump.
The political establishment, including the media, in the EU that is dominated by woefully misguided atlanticism has deplored the election of Trump in the US. There is a snobbish handwringing attitude that Trump’s movement is all about racist, white trash numbskulls. There may be some unsavory elements to Trump’s support, as there are in some anti-EU movements. But in the main what it is about is reclaiming democratic power for the mass of people. What the Americans have done in electing Trump is what the Europeans also need to do in order to sack a corrupt and venal establishment that up to now has only served Washington and the atlanticist elite.
If Trump’s victory invigorates similar trends across Europe then that would be a good thing. And especially if it led to Europe having a more independent foreign policy from Washington and in particular gaining a more normal, mutual relationship with Russia.

Gay Jewish Drama Queen Suffers Palpitations Over Trump
Posted on November 10, 2016
Mark Joseph Stern is a writer for Slate who openly identifies as gay and Jewish. In a recent column, Stern related the history of his Polish Jewish family’s experiences at the hands of the Nazis in the 1930s–apropos of nothing, really, other than the fact that Stern despises Donald Trump and seems to feel the president-elect plans to implement a holocaust against American Jews upon being sworn in in January.
Stern relates melodramatically:
When Germany invaded, my great-grandmother insisted, we stay. Her Jewish friends panicked, fled, but she said, no, it won’t happen here. Then the soldiers moved them to the ghetto. A wealthy friend offered my family safe passage out, but my great-grandmother said: No. We stay.
The Slate writer makes sure everyone appreciates the terrible, bitter irony of it: his great-grandmother, who had assumed she and her family would be safe, and who had said, “it won’t happen here,” ended up dying in a concentration camp; his grandfather managed to survive, but “just barely.”
At this point in the narrative, Stern jumps into the recent election:
As a Jew in America, I was raised to believe two rather contradictory things: The United States is safe for us, and our world can descend into bigoted violence at any moment. I held these two beliefs in my head at once as Donald Trump was declared president-elect in the early hours of Wednesday morning. On the one hand, America remains, for now, a liberal democracy with civil liberties and checks and balances. On the other hand, those liberties and checks appear to be fading fast.
He goes on to insist that Trump, who is not even the president yet, has “seized control of every branch of government” with the help of his “enablers,” and incredibly he asserts also that “Congress is a toothless, rubber stamp for Trump.” Moreover, watch out–because Trump is almost sure to appoint genocidal murderers to the judiciary who will have it in for Mexicans, Jews, and virtually everyone else. The evidence for all of this is pretty flimsy; in fact, it seems to consist of little more than “dog whistles.”
“I am a gay Jewish journalist who loathes Trump with a very public passion,” declares Stern. (The loathing he speaks of, of course, is evident.) “Every week, I receive the emails, the tweets, the private messages: Kike. Faggot. F**king Jew.”
Stern believes he is receiving these messages from people who are responding to “dog whistles” initiating from Trump, and to prove his point, he links to two previous Slate articles, both written by Daniel Politi. One of these is about a man who turned up at a Trump rally and began ostentatiously yelling “Jew-S-A” at the media while wearing a “Hillary for prison” t-shirt and holding a Trump/Pence campaign sign. The man’s behavior was roundly condemned by Trump campaign spokespeople, and while he may have been a genuine Trump supporter, it’s also worth nothing that Project Veritas turned up plenty of evidence of Democratic Party operatives hiring protesters to show up at Trump events.
The other Politi article is concerned with “troubling anti-Semitic overtones” said to be found in a Trump campaign ad, the audio for which consists of Trump giving a speech in which he talks about how the “political establishment” has become corrupt, this accompanied by a slew of images of various people. Three of the individuals whose faces flash briefly on the screen–financier George Soros, Fed Chair Janet Yellen, and Goldman Sachs CEO Lloyd Blankfein–happen to be Jewish, and one of the people Politi quotes in his article insists the ad is anti-Semitic and functions as a “dog whistle.”
Here is the ad in question. You be the judge:
Is Trump wrong to point an accusatory finger at “global special interests”? Does anyone out there seriously believe the Federal Reserve had the best interest of average Americans at heart when it implemented its policy of quantitative easing?
Stern insists that “Trump wants people like me gone. Dead.” And he also confides to his readers that he is “scared.” I would suggest to Stern that he pause for a moment and ponder what it might be like to be a Palestinian living under Israeli occupation. Were he forced to cope with curfews, checkpoints, and periodic skunkwater drenchings, and were he obliged also to dodge live ammunition or rubber-coated steel bullets on an almost daily basis, perhaps then he might learn the true meaning of the word “scared.”
I looked for a Stern article in which the writer might have addressed the Palestine/Israel conflict, and after doing a search, I did find one. To his credit, Stern acknowledges that the occupation “is a human rights catastrophe” and calls Israeli violence toward Palestinians “increasingly indefensible,” but nowhere in the article does he accuse any Israeli politician of the sort of racism and malevolence he ascribes to Donald Trump–nowhere, for instance, does he cite the reference to “little snakes” contained in a Facebook post by the country’s justice minister, or similar invectives voiced by other Israeli officials past and present.
Trump, however, doesn’t get quite the same pass. “I Am a Gay Jew in Trump’s America. And I Am Afraid for My Life,” reads the headline over Stern’s diatribe. Trump has, of course, expressed his support for gays, and he also spoke of America’s “unbreakable friendship” with Israel in a speech before AIPAC back in March–a speech which had the same pandering tones we typically hear from US politicians whenever the subject of Israel comes up. It all kind of makes you wonder how many of the people now accusing Trump of anti-Semitism might have at some point along the road of life heard voices in their heads or perhaps be in need of a prescription for anti-psychotic medication.
But be that as it may, Stern seems convinced that the Trump Gestapo posses are on their way to his door:
I am scared. I have never been scared like this before. What do we do? This is not like anything we’ve lived through before. We are being pulled farther and farther out to sea by the riptide of history. The shore is receding. Do we fight the current? Or do we let it draw us out into the ocean, recognizing that there’s no use in fighting something beyond our control?
There have been a myriad of analyses published since Tuesday’s election, each one in its own respective way trying to make sense of it all. Some of these have been discerning and insightful, some not so. Stern’s piece, however, seems to fall into a category of its own–reading less like a political commentary than the ramblings of a drama queen.

Anti-Trump Chaos Is Exploding Across America, but it could be worse, Clinton could have won
Trump suggested that he might not accept the election results if Clinton won. Hillary and her supporters in the government, media and public called this “horrifying” – a stunning rejection of America’s longstanding democratic practice. Now, in a repeat of anti-Bush protests in 2001, Clinton supporters are refusing to accept the results. Not only that, at least some Hillary supporters are turning out be exactly what they accused Trump supporters of being: violent and hateful bigots. As The Duran’s Alex Christoforou puts it, “For liberals and progressives, love and peace is only acceptable if it falls in line with their definition of such.”
First there were the calls for Trump’s assassination on Twitter. Shockingly, a freelance journalist for the UK’s Guardian and New York Times, Monisha Rajesh, even called for president-elect Trump to be assassinated in a tweet to journalist Mark C. O’Flaherty, who writes for the Financial Times, Sunday Times, among other propaganda outlets. O’Flaherty responded “haaaa – that’s all we’ve talked about for the last hour.”Rajesh quickly deleted the tweet and her account, but not before it was seen and captured by other Twitter users.
Another journalist, LA Times freelancer Steven Borowiec tweeted that he wished Trump would die. The paper released a statement that they found the comment “inexcusable”: “The Los Angeles Times is committed to fair, evenhanded coverage of the presidential campaign, and expects all journalists representing the paper, including non-staff contributors such as Mr. Borowiec, to adhere to this standard in their articles and social media posts.”
Along with the assassination threats came the protests and riots in New York, LA, Texas, Nebraska, Missouri, Virginia, Minnesota, San Francisco, Oregon, Seattle, Oakland. Tens of thousands are taking part all across the country. But while largely peaceful, that is changing quickly. Dozens were arrested in that first two days. Police officers were injured. Property was destroyed. Trump was burned in effigy. The American flag was burned in the streets. At the same time, a wave of racist bullying and vandalism has spread across the country.
We should be skeptical about all of it.
The chaos is undeniable. As is the violence and the destruction. Yesterday an elderly Chicago man was repeatedly kicked in the head, his car stolen as bystanders shouting ‘You voted Trump’.
A high school girl in California was beaten by a classmate for saying she supported Trump in Instagram, therefore she hates Mexicans. Now she’s receiving hate mail on her social media accounts.
The protests continue. Last night a peaceful Philadelphia rally focused on women of color and sexual assault victims. Baltimore protests saw some arrests. Protests are ongoing in Milwaukee, Oakland, Minneapolis, Grand Rapids, New York City… Students in Southern California staged walkouts. (See Zero Hedge for a representative sample of videos and pics.)
Twenty-six rioters were arrested in Portland yesterday. The protest began peacefully before the “anarchists” started burning flags, breaking windows of local businesses and restaurants, and bashing an electrical box. The protesters even turned on each other. The man who was beating the electrical box with a baseball bat hit a woman who tried to get him to stop. RT reports:
Some 4,000 people started their protest at Pioneer Courthouse Square and moved to northeast Portland, according to The Oregonian daily. Police on Twitter wrote that protesters were preparing “gas and flares” and were “arming themselves with rocks from construction site.”
At least 19 cars were vandalized at a Toyota dealership.
What’s going on? Trump may not be too far off when he tweets the following:
The fact is, most of these protests have been peaceful, or at least they started out as such, like the one in Portland. And every movement or ideology has its crazies, extremists, and those who resort to violence. But there’s this to consider: MoveOn “activists” march against Trump: George Soros begins his color revolution in America. And this:
With tens of thousands of people taking to the streets to protest Donald Trump’s presidential election victory, questions are swirling about whether the anger is as organic as advertised. … observers online are claiming that, in some cases, protesters were bused to the scenes – a telltale sign of coordination. “Anti-Trump protesters in Austin today are not as organic as they seem,” one local in the Texas capitol tweeted Wednesday, along with photos offered as evidence.Others claimed to have found ads posted on CraigsList in which a Seattle-based non-profit was soliciting “Full-Time Activists.” “We are looking for motivated individuals who are seeking Full-Time, Part-Time, and Permanent positions,” reads a line from the ad from Washington CAN! posted on Wednesday.Rumors have also been circulating that the new batch of anti-Trump protesters has been bankrolled by individuals like billionaire liberal activist George Soros and groups like Moveon.org. “WTF, @georgesoros busing in & paying #protestors to destroy cities is domestic #terrorism. #fakeProtests #BlueLivesMatter have tough days,” read one tweet in response to the viral picture of buses in Austin.Another theory floated on social media is that many of the signs that were distributed at rallies across the country appeared to be exactly the same, indicating they were printed and distributed by an organized group.
In addition to the incidents mentioned above, rioters defaced Lee Memorial in New Orleans, spray painting messages like “Die Whites Die”, “F— Trump”, “F— White People”, “F— Pence”, “We are ungovernable”, and anarchy symbols. (The foul language is common to most of the protests.) Ironically, protesters genuinely concerned about Trump stirring up deep-seated hatred don’t have to look far – their fellow protesters are doing exactly that.
The non-violent protests are at least understandable. They’re angry they lost. They’re kicking themselves for not reforming the electoral college years ago (but they were seemingly fine with it for the previous three elections). They’re angry at the DNC for sabotaging the chances for a Democratic candidate who actually stood a chance against Trump. But when it comes down to it, their lashing out is childish and misguided.
Hillary supporters bought the lie that Clinton was a champion of “progressive values”. They’re convinced Trump will be the next Hitler, ignoring the fact that Hillary’s political philosophy is much more fascistic, founded on deception, corruption, and mass murder. They either don’t know or don’t care that Hillary represents and is personally responsible for the continuation of the policies that made America the most evil country on the planet. Said policies were given new life by the Bush presidency and reinvigorated by Obama. They include: the invasion and occupation of foreign countries, the slaughter of their civilians, the plundering of their resources, the state sponsorship of terrorism in the Middle East and North Africa, the use of death squads, supporting Nazis in Ukraine, maintaining and amplifying a new cold war against Russia, and supporting the worst dictatorships and human rights violators on the planet, like Saudi Arabia and Qatar, who execute gays, subjugate women, and arrest political dissidents.
But no. Trump is the problem

Obama Orders Pentagon To Attack Al-Nusra? Hold The Cheers!
According to the Washington Post, Obama “ordered the Pentagon to find and kill the leaders of an al-Qaeda-linked group in Syria that the administration had largely ignored until now and that has been at the vanguard of the fight against the Syrian government, (unnamed) US officials said.
Fact: His war on ISIS is phony. It’s destroying infrastructure and massacring civilians in Syria and Iraq - while pretending to be fighting terrorists, the elements America created and continues supporting in all countries where they’re deployed.
WaPo: Obama is “concern(ed) that (al-Nusra) is turning parts of Syria into a new base of operations…”
Fact: Obama continues using ISIS, al-Nusra and other terrorist groups as imperial foot soldiers to oust Assad and destroy Syrian sovereignty.
WaPo: His “move underlies the extent to which (he) prioritize(s) the counterterrorism mission over efforts to pressure President Bashar al-Assad to step aside…”
Fact: The way to defeat terrorism in Syria, Iraq and elsewhere is for Washington and its rogue allies to stop arming, funding, training, directing and otherwise supporting these imperial foot soldiers.
WaPo: “The United States has conducted sporadic strikes in the past against veteran al-Qaeda members who migrated to northwestern Syria from Afghanistan and Pakistan to join al-Nusra and whom US officials suspected of plotting against the United States and its allies.”
Fact: Washington supports these fighters along with Pentagon-led “coalition” warplanes waging war on Syria, not on any terrorist group operating in the country or Iraq.
WaPo: Obama’s “new order gives the US military’s Joint Special Operations Command, or JSOC, wider authority and additional intelligence-collection re sources to go after al-Nusra’s broader leadership, not just al-Qaeda veterans or those directly involved in external plotting.”
Fact: Obama wants Syria turned into another US vassal state, gaining another imperial trophy.
WaPo: “(A)ides say Obama grew frustrated that more wasn’t being done by the Pentagon and the intelligence community to kill al-Nusra leaders given the warnings he had received from top counter terrorism officials about the gathering threat they posed.”
Fact: Washington continues supporting all terrorist groups it claims to oppose - in Syria, Iraq and elsewhere. Claims otherwise are Big Lies.
It remains to be seen whether Trump will continue US aggression in Syria, Iraq and elsewhere. He accused Obama of making a mess out of the region. He can’t undo spilt milk but can stop spilling more of it.
Once in office, he’ll have a chance to change policy responsibly - a key test on whether he’s for endless wars or diplomacy to resolve ongoing ones.
A Final Comment
In response to the Washington Post’s article, Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said “in foreign policies and diplomacy, reactions are given to official statements, and as yet we have not seen anything of the kind.”
Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Oleg Syromolotov said “(t)he new (US) president was elected only two days ago so it is too early to make any plans.” At this time, Russia intends no counterterrorism cooperation with Washington.

SAA, Allies Achieve Remarkable Progress in Western Aleppo, enter KHAAN AL-SHAYKH
Syrian Army, Allies Achieve Remarkable Progress in Western Aleppo
November 11, 2016
Syrian army and allies managed on Friday to completely control Manyan town in western Aleppo after fierce clashes with the terrorists.
The Syrian army and allies had already advanced in Manyan as confusion prevailed among the terrorists.
According to Al-Manar reporter, the Syrian army and allies regain the Schools area as well as other positions in Dahiyat al-Assad in western Aleppo.
The Syrian army also launched anti-terrorist operations in several provinces, inflicting heavy losses upon the terrorists.

SYRIAN ARMY ENTERS KHAAN AL-SHAYKH!
The Syrian Arab Army has entered the south-eastern flank of Khaan Al-Shaykhoccupying 8 city blocks east of the Duroosha-Dayr-Khabiyya-Al-Buwaydha Avenue. The Syrian Army has also established full artillery control over Al-Zuhoor Avenue. Taken aback by the suddenness and fury of the Syrian Army assault, the rodents of Nusra/Alqaeda mounted a counter-attack with the usual sucker driving a truck loaded with military-grade TNT bolstered by C-4 (Semtex) which, as usual, got zapped by a Kornet rocket causing the happy driver to self-vaporize. When the rodents saw their Trojan Horse (so to speak) go up in a ball of flames, they continued the operation and were wiped out to a rat – almost. Evidently, some of the rats were able to scurry away toward the Golan. A full field assessment was conducted after a lull in the fighting. No carcasses were identified because they were all foreigners – some carrying Zionist cigarettes in their cargo pockets.

COLD WAR IS OVER; TRUMP VICTORIOUS; EXPECT OVERTURES TO DR. ASSAD AS HOPES FOR RENEWED DIPLOMATIC RELATIONS GROW; HILLARY CLINTON IN THE ABANDONED SEWER OF HISTORY
I will not deny it. I campaigned and voted for Donald Trump. My hope was always that he would defeat the war-mongering termagant, Hillary Clinton. While I shared many people’s view that the candidates were not, necessarily, the very best, I harbored deep inside me a sense of confidence that Donald Trump would shock the world with a new approach to everything, including foreign policy. His words about President Putin encouraged me in the belief that he was a businessman with no axes to grind; that he would engage Russia and disavow the bankrupt policies of the present imbecile in the White House. I believe, strongly, that President Trump will restore good relations with Syria and give the Saudis their much-deserved kick in the groin. It was time for a president like Donald Trump to finally take charge of this country and make it great, once again. The American people, especially the whites, finally reignited a passion for achievement to regain their own sense of worth in a nation obsessed with political correctness and minority sensibilities.
Hillary Clinton, one America’s worst Secretaries of State, constantly berated President Assad, calling for his ouster; taking sides with the terrorists against the Syrian people. She pretended to support Palestinian rights, but, did absolutely nothing for them while inciting the Zionists to build more settlements, thus, relegating Palestinian aspirations for statehood to the deep recesses of metaphysics. She will not be missed, especially by the people of Libya to whom she served up anarchy and annihilation. An odious, pretentious, mephitic wretch, she was so addicted to power you could see her toxic sputum ooze out of the sides of her mouth. No one ever deserved her own oblivion more than Madame Clinton. She touted women’s rights whilst she danced the Chattanooga Choo-Choo with the male cockroaches of Saudi Arabia. She was the eidos of hypocrisy. She will be remembered like a discarded Tampax, floating down a pipe to the main sewer drain of some town in the Western Sahara. She was….. and is…… nobody. Ziad

On Trump’s Victory: Gilad Atzmon
By Gilad Atzmon
It occurred to me in recent years that the act of being Progressive is not a political position but rather a mental state.
The incapacity of the entire American progressive and Left establishment to foresee Trump’s landslide victory suggests that we are dealing with people who areinstitutionally detached
Just three days ahead of the presidential elections, the Huffington Post pathetically criticised star pollster Nate Silver of “Unskewing Polls in Trump’s direction,” for suggesting that Trump victory was realistic. Ryan Grim wrote: “HuffPost Pollster is giving Clinton a 98 percent chance of winning, and The New York Times’ model at The Upshot puts her chances at 85 percent.”
There is one outlier, however, that is causing waves of panic among Democrats around the country and injecting Trump backers with the hope that their guy might pull this thing off after all. Nate Silver’s 538 model gives Donald Trump a heart-stopping 35% chance of winning as of this weekend.”
The Huffington Post goes as far as accusing Silver of“making a mockery of the very forecasting industry that he popularized.”
In perspectives, Nate Silver and his 538 were obviously spot on. The Huffington Post and The New York Times were totally off the mark. Is it a coincidence?
How is it possible that the Democratic Party, the mainstream media and Wall Street have managed to totally miss the level of anger that unites the American masses. These questions go far beyond polling strategy or the science of statistics. We are dealing with a state of being aloof on the verge of total detachment.
Left and progressive thinking is shaped like a dream. It tells us what the world ought to be. Progressives often seem to forget what the world really is and what its people are really like. Hillary Clinton and her campaign, just like the New York Times and The Huffington Post, were in a state of denial. Boasting in righteous hubris, they failed to read the map.
But this shouldn’t take us by a complete surprise. Detachment wasn’t invented by Clinton and her team. Detachment and alienation are ingrained in progressive thought. To be a progressive is to believe that some of the ‘other’ people are simply a bunch ofunaware ‘reactionaries.’ Progressive thought is the secular manifestation of ‘chosenness’. It is inherently Jewish, a fact that explains why Hillary Clinton’s top five donors were Jewish billionaires.
Since being progressive is a form of supremacy. I would go as far as suggesting that progressives’ antagonism towards ‘white supremacy’, is at large, a form of projection. the progressive attributes to ‘Whiteness’ his own exceptionalist inclinations.
Americans vs. Identitarians
On election day, we learned that the Democratic Party was hanging on a thread, hoping to be saved by Florida’s ‘Hispanic vote.’ Clinton’s political future depended upon the hope that Trump had managed to upset enough Latinos. This peculiar development in which a national party is dependent on group politics shouldn’t take us by surprise anymore
The 2016 American presidential election divided America into two camps:
The Americans on one side and the Identitarians on the other. The Americans are those who see themselves primarily as American patriots. They are driven by rootedness and heritage. For them, the promise to make ‘America great again’ confirms that utopia is nostalgia and that the progressive reality is nothing short of dystopia. The Identitarians, on the other hand, are those who subscribe to progressive sectarian politics. They see themselves primarily as LGBTQ, Latino, Black, Jews, Women, and so on. Their bond with the American national or patriotic ethos is secondary and often non-existent. The future of the Democratic party, in its current form, depends upon the hope that American subscriptions to sectarian ideologies will gradually increase and, as a result, will eventually strengthen the context of identity or group politics. The progressive agenda banks on the divestiture of the national and patriotic ethos. Needless to mention that half of America voted for Clinton. Hence, this political agenda is far from being farfetched or delusional.
But the Identitarian agenda backfired. It was only a question of time before the so-called ‘whites’ or ‘rednecks’ grasped that their backs have been pressed to the wall. They also started to act and think as an identitarian political sector. Hillary Clinton calling Trump’s voters a “basket of deplorables” was a clear sign for white poor Americans that Hillary wasn’t exactly their ally. However, Hillary was far from being alone. Almost every Jewish writer within the American press didn’t miss the opportunity to attribute the “White Supremacist” label to Trump’s voters. For Cheryl Greenberg, Trump’s popularity was “the final gasping of white supremacy.” For Talking Points Memo’s Josh Marshall, Trump’s closing ad was packed with “anti-Semitic dog whistles, anti-Semitic tropes, and anti-Semitic vocabulary.” For Marshall and Goldberg, half of the American people were dogs obeying their master’s whistle.
It shouldn’t take us by surprise that half of the American people would eventually react. They became weary of Jewish progressives like Marshall and Goldberg seeing them as dogs and white supremacists. The time was ripe for a revolution.
So is the revolution here? I’m not holding my breath. The people who crowned Trump are certainly exhausted. They are ready for a change. Can Trump introduce such a change? No one knows. He is certainly going to keep us entertained.
