17 Seconds That Changed The World ~ [Leaked Letter Exposes Turkey’s Hair-Trigger Reality]

TURKEY-REGIME-SUPPORT-DAESH-990x260

, Zerohedge ~ Needless to say, Moscow and Ankara are at odds over precisely what happened on Tuesday when a Russian Su-24 was shot down near the Syrian border.
The two pilots ejected and attempted to parachute to safety but Turkmen FSA-allied Alwiya al-Ashar militiamen shot at them as they fell before posting a video purporting to show rebel soldiers celebrating over one of the bodies. It only got worse from there when the FSA’s 1st Coastal Brigade used a US-made TOW to destroy a Russian search and rescue helicopter.
Clearly, this was a marked escalation and indeed it was the first time a NATO member had engaged a Russian or Soviet warplane in more than 60 years.
The Kremlin was not happy as Vladimir Putin – who was meeting with King Abdullah in Jordan – proceeded to brand Erdogan a “backstabber” and an ISIS supporter. Sergei Lavrov subsequently canceled a planned trip to Turkey.
At issue now, is whether the Russian fighter jet did indeed, as Turkey claims, venture into Turkish airspace or whether the Turks actually engaged Moscow’s warplane in the skies over Syria.
Here’s Russia’s version of the story, presented via a video released by the Defense Ministry:
And here’s Turkey’s account:
TurkeyVersion
Finally, here’s The New York Times with a compare and constrast visual:
CompareContrast
In the wake of an emergency NATO meeting this afternoon, new information has come to light. First, there’s Ankara’s letter to UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and the 15 members of the UN Security Council. Here it is:
TurkeyUNLetter
The highlighted passage reads: “Disregarding these warnings, both planes, at an altitude of 19,000 feet, violated Turkish national airspace to a depth of 1.36 miles and 1.15 miles in length for 17 seconds from 9:24:05 local time.”
So, as RT notes, even if we buy Turkey’s story (i.e. if we accept that Russia actually did violate Turkish airspace), then it would appear that Ankara has something of an itchy trigger finger. That is, Turkey was apparently willing to risk sparking a wider conflict between NATO and Russia over a 17 second incursion.
But something doesn’t sound right.
wiki-turks

In other words, as Sputnik put it earlier this evening, “according to those numbers, the Su-24 would have had to be flying at stall speed.“

The Su-24’s max speed is 1,320 km/hour.

So if we assume the Su-24 was actually going much faster, was 17 seconds more like 5 seconds? Or perhaps even less?

It’s important not to forget the context here. Ankara is fiercly anti-Assad and in addition to being generally displeased with Russia’s efforts to support the regime, just four days ago, Turkey summoned Russian ambassador Andrey Karlov over the alleged bombing of Turkish villages near the border. “Turkey has asked Russia to ‘immediately end its operation,'” AFP reported, adding that “Ankara warned bombing villages populated by the Turkmen minority in Syria could lead to ‘serious consequences.'”

Of course Russia wasn’t just bombing Turkish civilians for the sheer hell of it. It’s likely Moscow was targeting the very same FSA-affiliated Alwiya al-Ashar militiamen who shot and killed the parachuting Russian pilot earlier today.

In short, it looks like Ankara saw an opportunity to shoot down a Russian jet in retaliation for strikes on Turkish rebel fighters who are operating alongside anti-Assad forces. Erdogan is essentially gambling that Russia will not retailiate militarily against Turkey because doing so would open the door for a direct confrontation with NATO.

Time will tell whether that gamble pays off or whether Moscow decides that the next time a Turkish F-16 gets “lost” over Latakia, a little payback is in order.

Palestinian Women in Front Lines as Struggle Intensifies

Cooking the Books for Israel: How the NY Times Plays a Numbers Game
By Barbara Erickson | Nov. 23, 2015
Jodi Rudoren today in The New York Times puts up a numbers barrier to hide the reality of Palestinian casualties in the latest spate of violence in Israel and the occupied Palestinian territories. The aim, as usual, is to maintain the claim of Israeli victimhood and to obscure the criminal brutality of the occupation.
In a story about four who died yesterday in alleged attacks in the region, Rudoren writes that more than 90 Palestinians have been killed since Oct. 1, “about half while attacking or trying to attack Israelis and the rest during demonstrations where they clashed with Israeli soldiers.”

Palestine Solidarity Activists Disrupt Israeli Official’s Talk in Bay Area

Israeli Deputy Foreign Minister Tzipi Hotovely was an invited speaker at the Zionism 3.0 conference in Palo Alto, California on November 22. Hotovely is a member of the right-wing Likud party and has called for assassination of Palestinian leaders and annexation by Israel of all the land “between the [Jordan] River and the [Mediterranean] Sea.” As she began to speak, five activists rose from the audience to declare her under citizen’s arrest, in keeping with warrants recently issued for Israeli officials in Spain, South Africa and Turkey.

Open Season on Murdering Palestinians with Impunity

Since October 1, the death toll tops 100 defenseless Palestinian civilians murdered by Israeli forces unaccountably.

Rogue states operate this way, disturbingly against young children, over two dozen killed, hundreds injured or arrested.B’Tselem accused Israel of cold-blooded murder.

Its letter to Netanyahu demanded an end to the ongoing carnage, including “horrific…summary street executions.” Executive director Hagai El-Ad accused him of “permit(ting) - and encourag(ing) the transformation of police officers, and even of armed civilians, into judges and executioners.”

Free-fire rules let security forces murder in cold blood with impunity - police state injustice. “(F)ull support for documented instances of unlawful killing reflects a (horrific) reality” on the ground.

Shoot-to-kill orders can never be justified “no matter the circumstances, (especially) when suspect(s)” pose no danger to authorities, El-Ad stressed. Summary street executions endanger all Palestinians, guilty of being Arabs in a Jewish rogue state pretending to be democratic.

Israeli criminal law abolished the death penalty in 1954, over six decades ago. The decision to impose it should always be judicial in cases where governments authorize it.

Netanyahu’s “silen(ce) when security forces operate outside the boundaries of the law cannot absolve one of responsibility. You will not be able to claim that your ears did not hear of this or that your mouth did not command it,” said El-Ad.

“Your protracted silence in the face of such events, while at the same time speaking in general commendation of the work of the security forces, make it all too clear what policy you advocate and support…As prime minister, you bear ultimate responsibility.”

Separately, Google and You Tube agreed to cooperate with Israel in censoring or suppressing video evidence of soldiers and police committing summary executions and other atrocities.

Israeli officials, including deputy foreign minister Tzipi Hotovely, call hard evidence of state-sponsored high crimes “inciting violence and terrorism.”

Both companies disgracefully agreed to monitor and prevent video materials Israeli officials call “inflammatory” - giving one of the world’s greatest human rights abusers/longstanding perpetrator of state-sponsored terrorism veto power over video evidence revealing its high crimes.

Washington’s dirty hands are likely involved in pressuring these companies and perhaps others to suppress damning material - indictable evidence just societies would use to hold culpable individuals accountable for their crimes.

Collaborating with Israel makes them complicit with murder and occupation harshness. It’s also a flagrant US First Amendment violation.

Moallem: Backed by Russian Air Force, Syrian Army Advances on All Fronts

Al Manar
Moallem-LavrovThe Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al-Moallem said the army is making progress on all fronts as it is backed by the Russian air force, SANA reported.

During a meeting with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov in Moscow on Friday, al-Moallem thanked the Russian leadership under President Vladimir Putin for its sincere efforts in supporting Syria against terrorism.

He affirmed that the Russian airstrikes in Syria have so far outdone by hundred times the Us-led coalition in the fight against ISIL, expressing sincere condolences over the death of the Russian pilot whose aircraft was downed by Turkey, describing it as a “stab in the back.”
“We have been at the receiving end of such stabs for over five years,” al-Moallem said.
Lavrov, for his part, said his country highly appreciates the Syrian government’s commitment to counterterrorism, vowing continued support for Syria to rout terrorists.

“We will continue providing all the necessary assistance to Syria in its war against terrorism in parallel with launching a political process,” added Lavrov, thanking the Syrian army for rescuing the Russian pilot whose aircraft was shot down by Turkey and for providing protection for the Russian embassy in Damascus.

“The Turkish leadership has crossed the line of what is acceptable and risks putting Turkey in a most severe situation,” he warned.

Topham, Zionist Elders and their Trial Protocols

By Eric Walberg
Sancho-Rudner and Quixote-Farber
Sancho-Rudner and Quixote-Farber
The trials and tribulations of Arthur Topham reveal details about the penchant of Zionists for conspiracy even in the minutest details. The key document, as described earlier, was Israel Must Perish!, Topham’s parody based on a now forgotten bookGermany Must Perish! (1942) by Theodore Kaufman. Next the tired, old Protocols of the Elders of Zionwere trotted out as evidence. Officially theProtocols were declared a forgery in a Swiss court in 1935, though no one ever made clear just what it was a forgery of, and they are easily available on the internet, so what makes Topham particularly guilty of anything in regards to them remained a mystery, despite the rigours of Canadian justice.
Another part of the Crown’s “Book of Evidence” was Elizabeth Dilling Stokes’ book The Jewish Religion: Its Influence Today (1964, self published). Dilling Stokes was–I quote Wikipedia: “an American anti-communist and later antisemitic social activist, as well as an anti-war campaigner and writer in the 1930s and 1940s. She stood trial for sedition in Washington in 1944. The author of four political books, Dilling claimed that Marxism and ‘Jewry’ were synonymous.”
Dilling Stokes was both an American anti-communist (that’s OK) and later an antisemitic social activist (that’s NOT OK). A noisy isolationist, she was tried for opposing WWII when it was no longer fashionable. The gripe against her today is her claim that Marxism and “Jewry” were synonymous, though this was the view of such eminent pundits as Winston Churchill, and is still fervently believed today, though no one but Topham is being persecuted for it.
And finally, The Controversy of Zion by Douglas Reed, a popular WWII correspondent. Reed’sInsanity Fair (1938) was a hit in 1938 warning of Hitler’s mad rush to war. A militant anti-fascist. Sounds good to me. Reed wroteControversy in the 1950s, but could find no publisher, and it only saw the light of day in 1978. His concern was “the continued role of the Middle East as the tinderbox, that can become the cause of the next world war, and the continued suppression and misrepresentation, in the media, of all news and discussion,” according to Knud Eriksen. Reed also dabbled in Jewish history, convinced that there is a long running conspiratorial history behind Judaism.
But, I again quote Wikipedia: “When The Times ran his obituary, it condemned Reed as a ‘virulent anti-Semite,’ although Reed himself claimed that he drew a distinction between opposition to Zionism and anti-Semitism.” Reed later wrote that Ian Smith’s apartheid Rhodesia should be defended “as ‘the last bulwark against the Third World War, just as Czechoslovakia should have been defended against Hitler in 1938.”
No mention in his writings of wiping out Israel, or hating Jews. On the contrary, Reed’s final words in Controversy are, “I think, that the Jews of the world are beginning to realize the wrong of revolutionary Zionism, the twin of the other destructive movement, Communism, and that towards the end of this 20th Century they will finally have decided to join in the ranks of mankind.”
Who wrote the “Book of Evidence”?
Why my niggling references to Wikipedia? Because I could just as easily be footnoting the “expert witness” “Book of Evidence” submitted by the accusers at Topham’s trial. Written without attribution.
Quotes require a citation (or at the very least, a rewrite). Well, the “expert witness” in Topham’s trial, Len Rudner (if it was him) was not so rigorous. In preparing his “Book of Evidence”, he just cut-and-pasted his bits and pieces of pseudo-proof of anti-Semitism at Wikipedia and no doubt elsewhere. As with his submission of the sizzling graphic as evidence of Topham’s hatred, Rudner seems to be working for the Jews’ purported enemy (much like thetragic Kaufman).
But is Rudner the ‘brains’, or the Jewish Sancho Panza? The stooge? The sequence of events in the farcical trial actually starts with Bernie Farber, the original “expert witness”. Farber is–I’m quoting his statement to the Court on September 30, just days before the trial was to start–“Executive Director of the Mosaic Institute, a research ‘think tank’ that supports multiculturalism and pluralism in Canada.” Prior to that, he was “Chief Executive Officer of Canadian Jewish Congress and in that capacity testified [sic] for the Crown as an expert on Jewish issues”.
Farber submitted his “Book of Evidence” and then suddenly recused himself. His charge against Topham: claiming “Jewish control of media and banking and the sowing of corruption and religious discord”.
Whoa. A few statistics can show Jewish pre-eminence in media and banking. It’s not hard to prove “sowing corruption and religious discord” either. Pretty thin ice.
Enter Faber’s “roady” Rudner, as performer Atzmon affectionately calls him. From the start, there was serious doubt about just how “expert” Rudner was. The Crown tried to verify this only once–under pressure–after Topham’s lawyer, Barclay Johnson, challenged Rudner and embarrassed him, as he couldn’t even define anti-Semitism or Zionism without read from his notes, an odd inarticulateness for an “expert”. Finally the Crown, Jennifer Johnston, was forced to ask Rudner: “Did you write this document?” to which he answered: “To the best of my knowledge I wrote this document”.
An “expert witness” who couldn’t even define anti-Semitism without cribbing from his notes. Atzmon had seen Farber’s notes as the original expert witness, and when he read Rudner’s, he saw they were identical, but were being pawned off as Rudner’s. Even more devastating, Farber had forgotten to turn off ‘viewing mode’ ‘mark up’ in the Word document, and Gilad noticed a comment on September 26 by Rudner: “Bernie. Let me know what books you want to use to support this position and I will add them as footnotes.” The emperor was wearing no clothes, and the Crown and judge chose not to notice.
Perjury? Call a mistrial and go after Rudner? At the very least, this was a blatant attempting to deceive the jury.
And why didn’t Rudner just ‘fess up? Why perjure oneself? Atzmon joked to the author, “If I was asked under oath: Did you write Altneuland (Old New Land) [by Zionism’s founder Theordore Herzel] I would just say NO!”
And why didn’t Farber stick with his task? Cold feed? Farber is eager to join the electoral ranks as a Liberal and an ugly, skewed trial with him at the centre would muddy the waters. Even worse if he lost. Maybe Farber had a kind of Jewish Damascus moment: he saw the light, that the case was pathetic, far more injurious to the cause than helpful. And far more injurious to himself as a future prime minister.
And why was Atzmon asked every time he opened his mouth to testify: “Is what you are saying your own words?” Rudner was asked only once. Come to think of it, who hacked Topham’s site in 2006 and wiped it out at the very time that Rudner was harassing him? Would Rudner answer: “Not me–to the best of my knowledge”?  Mystery after mystery. How can there not be a conspiracy (many conspiracies) in all this?
Personally, I’m in no position to be sued by powerful and ruthless conspirators (excuse me: legal opponents), so let me state here for the record: I’m not accusing anyone of anything–other than Farber (or Rudner) for cribbing. (I hope they donate to Wikipedia very generously.)
Topham’s crime
Topham’s only sin was exercising his freedom of speech, providing sharp graphics and free downloads of quaint books at his site, and telling the truth there about Zionist control of western politics, especially Canadian. Topham’s little soldiers of truth were hacked to death in a Zionist rage in 2006, but the undeterred Topham resuscitated them. That was his crime.
Thank you once again, Mr Rudner, for alerting world citizens to Topham’s quixotic mission, however unkosher it may be. I will certainly have a look at Reed’s Controversy (I’ve read and written about the Elders of Zion and don’t need a refresher course).
Update: In a Zionist setback, on November 20, the Crown prosecutor’s attempt to criminally charge Topham for allegedly publishing Crown documents, and to close his website, were dismissed. The Crown also sought unsuccessfully to prevent outside media from speculating on the reasons for the jury’s decision to find Topham guilty. So consider this expose a journalistic scoop.

Turkey to Suspend Syria Airstrikes, Seeks Calming Tensions

A day after Russia announced suspending all cooperation with the Turkish military including a set up to share information about Russian air strikes in Syria, Turkish PM Ahmet Davutoglu on Friday sought easing tensions with Moscow over the unexplained downing of a Russian warplane on the Syrian border.

Turkey flights

“Turkey will work with Russia and our allies to calm tensions,” Davutoglu wrote in Friday’s edition of The Times in London.
“The downing of an unidentified jet in Turkish airspace was not, and is not, an act against a specific country,” he justified.
In the context, the major row with Moscow pushed NATO member Turkey to “temporarily” suspend airstrikes against “ISIS” targets in Syria.
Russia, however, threatened economic retaliation against Turkey and said it is still awaiting a reasonable explanation for the shooting down of its warplane.
On another level, Russia said that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan requested a meeting with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin in Paris on November 30, on the sidelines of the forthcoming global climate summit in the capital.
“A proposal from the Turkish side about a meeting at the level of heads of state has been delivered to the president,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told journalists on a conference call Friday.
It is worth mentioning that Putin, calling the incident a “stab in the back”, demanded on Thursday an apology from Turkish leadership. However, his Turkish counterpart angrily rebuffed the demand.
On its part, Turkish Hurriyet newspaper cited security sources as saying that: “Both sides agreed to act cautiously until they re-establish dialogue channels to reduce tensions.”

Russian DM: Terrorists in Su-24 Search Operation Eliminated

Russian Defense MinisterRussian and Syrian military have killed terrorists in the search area of the downed Russian Su-24 jet, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Thursday.
“The moment our pilot was in safety the area was heavily bombed by the Russian Air Force and shelled by Syrian government forces artillery,” ministry spokesman General-Major Igor Konashenkov told a media briefing.
He stressed that terrorists and other “mysterious groups” were killed in the assault.
Konashenkov also added that the Turkish General Staff had denied Russia access to any materials related to the downing of the Russian Su-24 jet by a Turkish F-16 on Tuesday, adding that they did not release any recording of the radio communications between the pilots.
“In this case this is just more proof that the audio recording of communication between the Turkish pilots and our crew published by several media outlets is a regular fake.”
The Defense Ministry has said that all channels of military cooperation with Turkey were suspended on Thursday, including a hotline set up to share information about Russian air strikes in Syria. Moscow has also recalled its military representative from Turkey.
“Today, in accordance with the decision taken earlier, all channels of cooperation between the Russian Defense Ministry and the armed forces of Turkey were suspended,” said Konashenkov.
“Now we are going to ensure the safety of our planes fighting against ISIS militants and other terror groups by taking more reliable measures,” Konashenkov said.
The Russian Air Force has conducted 134 sorties in the past three days hitting 449 targets in the Syrian provinces of Aleppo, Damascus, Idlib, Latakia, Hama, Homs, Raqqa and Deir Ezzor, according to the spokesman.
All planes have safely returned to base.
Moreover, the Syrian governmental forces took control of the mountainous regions in the north of Latakia province, thus fully blocking the cross-border arms and ammunition shipments to terrorists in the area, Konashenkov said during the briefing.
He also stressed that in other regions in northern Syria, Russian air forces have been keeping all weapons, ammo and equipment supply routes of the so-called 'Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant' (ISIL) takfiri group in check.
Konashenkov said that that reports distributed by foreign media about Russian air forces allegedly hitting a Turkish ‘humanitarian convoy' near the Bab al-Salam border crossing in northern Syria were "misinformation."
Russian aviation is continuing to carry out air strikes against oil-refining infrastructure controlled by Islamic State militants. On November 24, Russian SU-34 bombers hit ISIL convoys of oil trucks as well as oil refineries and oil storage facilities in the eastern Syrian provinces of Raqqa and Deir ez-Zor.
