One year on his assassination, the image of martyr Imad Moghniyeh (Haj Redwan) – Hezbollah’s military commander – still haunts the Zionist entity. Israel is still concerned that Hezbollah will avenge his killing before the first anniversary of the assassination.

Haj Redwan was assassinated on February 12, 2008 in a car bombing in Damascus. Hezbollah has declared its intention to avenge its resistance commander’s death after it confirmed that Israel was behind that assassination.

Citing recent intelligence assessments, the Israeli media said Hezbollah is believed to be planning a retaliatory attack.

Shortly after Moghniyeh's assassination, security officials warned that Israeli and Jewish institutions all over the world were potential targets for Hezbollah retaliation. "Hezbollah looks for a country with a weak regime, weak intelligence and security services, and relatively easy escape routes," an Israeli defense official explained at the time.

Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah has said that the resistance will choose the time and place to avenge Haj Redwan’s assassination. Shortly after the killing took place, Israeli political and military senior official doubled their security personnel and enhanced security measures for main Israeli institutions in occupied Palestine and across the globe.

Martyr Moghniyeh had played a major role in confronting the Israeli occupation of Lebanon, the withdrawal of 2000 and the glorious victory in the 2006 Israeli war on Lebanon.
